Epson Stylus 1290 Borderless Driver

I'd like to install the borderless options with the 1290's driver onto my computer running Tiger 10.4.6, during and after installation, I'm given no option to do this. Can anyone help me with this please..

Thanks

I have an Epson Stylus Photo 890, very similar to your 1290 except for maximum size of output, and, after a long series of e-mails with Epson tech support, they finally admitted that the now rather elderly Epson drivers for my printer did not support borderless printing with MacOS X, something I had concluded myself after trying everything under the sun to make it work.

Funnily enough, epsons 1290 OSX driver available from epson 🙂 at one time worked fine, the driver extending right to the edge of the page.

This time due to a directory error all drive data was lost and hence a new driver installation. A quick call to epsons tech support soon got the drivers correctly installed, working no!

Adobe illustrator now has a line .75 inches from the top of the page, a new twist to the tale.

BTW there is a correct installation method for epsons drivers.

1. Install driver
2. Goto printer setup utility - double click
3. Select ADD - This will open printer browser window
4. Click more printers
5. Chose your printer 1290,C80 etc
6. From page setup, this gives you a list of all additional settings - no margins, roll paper etc. SELECT ALL, this will add the new settings to your page setup.

If anyone has any information, how to get rid of that one line, please leave details, thanks

I did all those steps at least a dozen times, but unfortunately Page Setup is greyed out when I reach the last step, so I cannot choose All or anything else.

I finally got this e-mail:

"Thank you for contacting the Epson Connection.

Unfortunately, the Stylus Photo 890 driver for OS X doesn't support borderless printing. That feature is only available in OS 9.2.2 and below and the Windows operating systems. Your concern for updated printer drivers will be passed to the appropriate department."

Ah....

Sorry, When you reach PRINTER BROWSER window after selecting MORE PRINTERS, Select your connection type - USB, FIREWIRE, etc.

If you have chosen the correct type then your printer should appear listed, the producy and description.

From page set up, if the above works for you, you can now select from various options - CHOOSE ALL .

It works fin on my PowerBook G4 1.24 using MacOSX 10.4.7 but on my MacBook Pro using the same systemversion I can't choose EPSON USB to add the 'maximum' and 'borderless' options. Gah!?
So now I have to use my PowerBook as a printerserver (using share printers) but I'd like to sell it but I also need to be able to print. The 'normal' driver is almost useless, cause when printing on A4 sized papers the bottom margin is huge. I almost always use the 'maximum' setting but now I can't. Gah!! x 2
