10.8.4 External Display Problem

Yet another O/S update from Apple today and the problem is still not fixed. I wish that somebody from Apple could just let us know what is happening about this problem.

It is only a matter of time that Samsung will devour apple.

The wait is over. After I upgraded to the free Maverick version of Mac Os X my external Asus monitor is being recognized again by MacBook Pro. I had been waiting since June for a fix. I am relieved but it was a bit frustrating.

Finally the wait is over.

I would say thank you Apple ... if they would have done it weeks ago.

Yes, it still persists for me too. If I remove my external monitor from the KVM switch and then detect the display, all works fine. As soon as I plug the Mac back into the KVM switch, the problem is back.

Upgrade to Mavericks, the external display connected through HDMI still can not display full contents.

Apple, we are clever enough to know how to zoom in / zoom out our screen, it's really a bug, please pay attention to this thread.

Mavericks is even worse than 10.8. The display preferences now only give you 3 options for setting the resolution. (1280 x 1024), (1024 x 768) and (800 x 600) - no 1920 x 1080! I still have the black bars on either side of my external display using my MBP.

Problem still persists at my end, too. 15" Macbook Pro Mid-2010, external Samsung 24". Extremely frustrating. As hispeed pointed out above, Mavericks new limited display preferences don't help, either.
