Mail is putting multiple copies of sent emails in my drafts folder, or in trash.

While I type an e-mail-it is creating multiple drafts in my in-box. Had this once before Maverick-it was an easy fix but not anymore. You can try going into into mail preferences - mailbox behaviors- "uncheck" store draft messages on server. Does not seem to work with Maverick-will not save any changes - does not stay unchecked.

Not sure if this will help anyone, but I had the problem about a year ago. It turned out the problem was with a gmail setting. Open up the web interface for gmail, go to Settings>Labels and find the System Label 'Drafts.' To the right up that select 'show if unread' and unselect the 'show in imap' checkbox at far right.

Additionally I went to the Apple Mail Preferences Accounts>(select account in list at left)>Mailbox Behaviors tab, then unselect store draft messages on the server. Those settings changes solved the issue for me.

Just replied to an email, then trashed the original and 14 copies showed up in my trash. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening?

I have the same problem: Mail stores messages in the Drafts Folder although they have been sent...

Timmy, I think you're right about Mavericks. I never had this problem until I downloaded the new operating system. I've also had a slew of other minor inconveniences (my folders reorganzied themselves), my computer has crashed more (while using aperature) in the past week than it ever has in it's life, etc.

If anyone has any thoughts on emails that stay as "drafts" but really they've already been sent, please let me know. I've now re-sent the same email multiple times. Thanks

I phoned up Appe Support yesterday and i discovered that SOME (not all) of my trouble was caused by my 2 Gmail accounts, which werent correctly designated as Gmail Server WITH the correct password, it was set to use the server from one of my other accounts.

I do still have another problem which doesnt go away, i open Mail normally and there is ghost Open Window, which cannot be opened, to view my Mail i have to open a NEW viewer window, even though there is a Window open all ready, the Ghost window !

I'm having the same problem. Some of my mail is being put into my drafts box since I downloaded Maverick. It is icloud mail not gmail. I have dozens of emails in there now and have to check to see which ones actually sent and which didn't. Some are in my outbox but most i my drafts box. Very frustrating!!

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Mail/Provide Mail Feedback

Go into Mail preferences from the apple menu (top left hand corner) click on mail > preferences > accounts > select your mail account on the left then click Mailbox Behaviors and uncheck Store Draft Messages on the server. If you have a GMAIL account its because GMAIL made changes to how their mail accounts server works. @alan binks

Hey i have this problem as well, i thought it was possibly Mavericks to blame, but no it obviously isnt that.

Same here, both in Mavericks previously and still in Yosemite. Anybody have a definitive answer to this?

I am having this problem too and just did the suggestion above but now there are no copies in my draft folder. Is this only solution?. I also use gmail. Thanks!
