How can I view login attempts on mountain lion? I see the following when search for login in the Console.

they've been removed now, but as I said, are like this:
authorizationhost[process ID number]: Failed to authenticate user <username> (error: 9).

Is there anyone else who can demonstrate that Mountain Lions logs show a login user through the console or any other log?
why don't you belive me, after I specifically tested the conditions you mentioned, and twice provided a log extract ?
Isn't it more likely that you're doing something wrong, or that your system is faulty ?

There is a simple concept you fail to wrap your head around. You must be logged in as Admin!
What you don't seem to understand MAcjack is that makes no sense that a user who logs into an account cannot view his own account to check for attempted logins?
Also even if I log in to the console as Administrator, under search all and perform a search for "authorization" Ii finds no entries.
Test with a newly created admin account - if that fails to show it too, then presumably something's wrong with your OS install... reinstalling might help & should retain your data even though you should have backups.

True enough -you can make system.log readable by all, but Console still doesn't show those entries under 'all messages' unless as below, you're an admin user.
However, if you did make system.log readable, any user could select it in the sidebar & then use the search filter.
i have performed reinstall but the same results. It doesn't find any values for "authorizationhost"
Does any one have a correction for loggin failure not being shown?
Just for clarity the install was done over the existing operating system which was updated from snow leopard.
It was not a fresh reinstall.
