Acquisition Download Folder

Hi,
I've an external HD which I use for back-up purposes. I attempted this weekend to directly store my Acquisition downloads on the HD while they download. However, despite setting it to the folder on the external HD, the files are still saving to my PowerBook's HD, which, as its only 60GB, is filling up fast. The location where it is saving is itself on my PowerBook is Volumes>External HD 1>DL

This is both puzzling and irritating.
Any help at all as to how to have Acquisition save to my external HD only would be much appreciated.

HI Paul, did you set the preference in Safari >> Preferences >> General >> "save downloaded files to" or just in Acquisition?

Let me also give you a word of warning on security since your using a P2P client:

You can protect your Mac by using your firewall and/or a hard wired router, downloading only from "trusted" sites, installing all security updates and being careful about what you give administrative power to.

Don't use Limewire or any other P2P service to download your software, get it from reputable sources. In addition, always keep at least your users backed up, preferably a clone of your entire system on a separate disk. And put your sensitive passwords, bank accounts, credit card numbers in a "secure note" in a new keychain or in an encrypted folder.

You can also use these online security tests to see how secure your Mac is.
