Kernel Panic GPU-related after 10.8.4 update

is there another way to really get to the bottom of this without trying several Apple stores to see which one would do the extra mile of fixing this for me? how do i escalate this to a higher level? i'm afraid i'll just be bouncing from one genius tech to another. the person who helped me seems pretty nice and was willing to help but if that's what the people "up there" are saying then what can she do right? i know my screen is hires but was the logic board really different from the regular variety? didn't think it would.

<sigh> I'm not sure, it's possible that yours, somehow, isn't in the right group, but I'm skeptical, since it fails the video diag. Have them log into their GSX account and search for "OP555" - it details EXACTLY how to enter the repair as well as getting into a CHAT with TSPS *if* there's an acceptance problem. Any Apple Service provider will recognize the above terminology and know what I'm talking about ... You could also CALL other Apple Service Centers and ask to speak with their service manager, have your MBP SN handy and calmly explain whats going on - get their opinion and see if they will be more successful prior to bringing it in to their location. I should note that their could be different criteria for the state of Californina and/or Canada (not sure which you "CA" refers to).

Looks like my other apple store is going by the 3 yrs limit. i'm out by 2 months and they are being very strick about it. I'm very very disappointed that Apple would hide behind that when they know for a fact that the MLB has production issues. I have an 8500 PPC and it's still working.... this laptop should last longer than just 3 yrs. I have been not only a long time user of the Mac but an investor since way back i don't even recall. like most of you here—a loyal Apple fan. i can't tell you how dissapointing this day has been for me. looks like my last hope is calling 1-800 number given to me.

to whoever else that gets to read this.... if you're getting a GPU kernel panic, go and complain to your nearest authorized dealer right away. don't wait it out thinking it's software like i did, thinking the next OS update would fix it.

ASAP go and bring that machine in to an apple store or authorized apple store. they'll run some test first.

when did u purchase your MBP? passed the 3 yrs? mine was denied warrantee several times but finally they came through for me. good luck.

"The SQEAKY wheel will get oiled" ... Any Apple Store can start a chat with Apple TSPS on GSX and plead the case AND get the repair AUTHORIZED! Like anything, it depends on if they "want to" or not. ALSO, calling Apple on the 800 number and pleading your case, with DETAILS (it's this model, this SN has this video card, DETAILS!) and if you happen to know for sure that it FAILS the special video test built into AST specifically for this one issue ... then you should have a very strong case! Persistence! "May I speak to your Manager?" "May I speak to the OWNER?" Who is your Apple Account Rep? What's their number? - You get the idea Peachy? 😝 Apple does not want UNHAPPY or DISGRUNTLED customers, especially LOYAL ones that might participate in/on a variety of Social Media outlets ... 😉

yeah i guess i've soften up. 😀. my approach was more on informing them on what i felt was reasonable and that i was feeling extremely disappointed. the senior advisor (i was transferred) was extremely courteous and listened well.... but stuck to the 3 yr limit during that conversation. before that phone call ended, all she promised me was that we'll document and file a formal complaint. i don't know what she eventually did but i received a call and an email later that night informing me that Apple will cover it. I was so happy to hear that message. Apple came through for me.... made me work but it came through. thanks Joe. 🙂

Uninstall virtualbox according to the developer's instructions and see if the panic persists. If it does, your GPU is failing (which, based on the KP, seems to be the case).

Mine's just gone into the MAC service centre to be replaced. I wonder why didn't Apple informed all customers who bought that model of this problem proactively instead of waiting for them to face such issues and come back. To be honest, I think most people who are not as savvy would not even know that it they can get it fixed for free under the recall program.

Hopefully it'll be fine.....

I think i'm not alone with this problem..

My MBP began to crash after fusion update, but i think it's a case, because i have random crashes even without using it.

For example now i was word writing and it crashes.
