Kernel Panic GPU-related after 10.8.4 update

Hello,

I would appreciate some help. Since I updated to Mac Os X 10.8.4, I'm experimenting kernel panics on my Macbook Air (2011). I think it's a GPU-related issue.

Here comes the log:

The kexts don't seem to referenciate any third party software. It looks like I've problems with the GPU and/or iPhoto, but I don't understand this kind of things properly. I must point here that, before the update, I don't have any problemas at all. Also, I've seen in the support forums that there are bugs on Nvidia graphic cards in Mountain Lion. So... my questions are: a) Is this some kind of bug? b) Can I do something to solve this issue (I've already checked Activity Monitor, reset PRAM, repaired permissions, erased Macintosh HD and restored my hard drive... without results)? c) Could you help me?

Thanks!

I don't see anything either - if you didn't download the combo updater and install the 10.8.4 update that way, do so now and apply it. Sometimes a delta updater leaves behind something it shouldn't which applying the combo updater will fix. Beisdes saving bandwidth to update the various machines I'm responsible for, I've found it to be less problmatic than delta releases. (A delta release updates the most recent version minus 1 to the newest while the combo will update any version to the newest.)

Mine's just gone into the MAC service centre to be replaced. I wonder why didn't Apple informed all customers who bought that model of this problem proactively instead of waiting for them to face such issues and come back. To be honest, I think most people who are not as savvy would not even know that it they can get it fixed for free under the recall program.

Hopefully it'll be fine.....

exactly my point too.

Well, My mid 2010 Macbook Pro dispalys the same issue. Same problem. However, I was told I was out of the serial range and would have to cover the repair myself. I am not sure why I bothered to pay 2x more for the cost of a windows laptop to have such a poor customer service experience for a known problem. I tried to escalate it to a store manager as well as talk to someone through Apple Support to no avail.

This will be the last Apple product I purchase.

Thank you so much Joe.Kazura and andyBall_UK!!!

I have been dealing with this problem for months. Exactly as those above have stated, I was getting numerous Kernel Panics and I also have a mid 2010 MacBook pro with the hi def display and the same video card as listed. My panic reports were almost identical to those above. I should say that before I upgraded to Mountain Lion, I was having problems with videos not playing. If I'd reboot, then they'd be ok. After I loaded Mountain Lion, I have had trouble with the Kernel Panics and the the computer shutting down and restarting. I have reloaded the operating system twice, left my computer at the Apple Store and had everything checked and reloaded. They said there were no hardware problems so I reloaded Mountain Lion again, and beganning adding one thing at a time. I re-added my documents (no music or movies or extra Apps) and Google Chrome, and it began to crash intermittently again. When I'd put my cursor over a link in my mail, it would often shutdown, but also at other times. Apple help still said that it had to be software because all my hardware tested out ok. I called Apple support again, and finally they said they'd have their engineers look at my panic reports. This was after telling them about what I had learned on this discussion board. They immediately said that I needed a new logic board, but it took a lot of talking back and forth and arguing to even get them to have someone look at them. They don't normally even want to look at your panic reports. Anyway, I've been approved to have a new one installed, and I would have never known of this issue if it weren't for this board. Thanks again!!! I don't really think Apple is handling this very honorably. They really should do a recall on MacBooks that have the offending video cards.
