OSX Tiger (10.4) installation discs

Hello all,

I've rencently retrieve my old Grand Ma's iMac (Power Mac G4, M8672LL/B), all still working like a charm!

But I want to reinstal a fresh partition of Mac OS X on it.

Actually it's a 10.4.11 installed on it, I after a few research, I think I can't install OS X 10.5...

Anyway, I don't have anymore all the installation discs of OS X 10.4 a loooooon time ago...

Just wonder, where can I find them??

Leopard isn't supported in that iMac > http://support.apple.com/kb/sp517

Apple isn't selling Tiger, but you can find it at Amazon or eBay > http://www.amazon.com/Apple-Mac-Tiger-10-4-6-VERSION/dp/B000BWZZLG

All my friends using Windows advise nuking the PC and re-installing Windows { any time it is cloudy outside 🙂 } on the machine to avoid any malware.

This is M$ thinking.

So many people come here after trying a reinstall and reporting that their machine no longer works.

If it isn't broke don't fix it.

Create a backup to an external firewire drive.

'd give OWC a call. 1-815-338-8685. You need a firewire drive. Figure out 400 / 800 firewire.

FireWire 800 + USB 3, + eSATA

&

save a little money interface:

FireWire 400 + USB 2.0

This web page lists both external harddrive types. You may need to scroll to the right to see both.

(2) FireWire 800/400 Ports (Up to 100MB/s / 50MB/s)

(1) USB 3.0 Port (Up to 500MB/s / 60MB/s)

(1) eSATA Port (Up to 300MB/s)

Has a combo firewire 800/400 port. Not sure what this is. Looks like you will need 400 cable.

Carbon Copy Cloner will copy your startup drive to an external firewire drive. You can boot from the external drive to verify that you have a good clone. When you upgrade your existing startup drive, you can at any time boot from your external drive and go back to your existing system.

SuperDuper is the wildly acclaimed program that makes recovery painless, because it makes creating a fully bootable backup painless. Its incredibly clear, friendly interface is understandable, easy to use, and SuperDuper's built-in scheduler makes it trivial to back up automatically. And it runs beautifully on both Intel and Power PC Macs!
