GeForce4 Ti 4600 Firmware

I'm attempting to upgrade my 733 Quicksilver 2001 with a Sonnet Duet 1.8 card. NO such luck, but I've read that there may be a firmware problem, and my card may need to be updated, and nVidia tells me this:

"NVIDIA produces GPUs (i.e., video chips). We do not produce or sell video cards. For this reason, we cannot provide direct sales or technical support to Apple retail customers. Since Apple produces different cards and packages using our chips for the Macintosh platform, we recommend that you contact the Apple to get the driver update for your graphics card."

A search on apple appears to show GeForce4 MX firmware updaters, but not for GeForce Ti.

Any thoughts where I can find an update?

Thanks!

Maybe there was some miscommunication.

According to Sonnet:

" 2. Update the firmware of any PCI adapter card installed in your system.
Certain older PCI video cards (for a second monitor perhaps) may have outdated firmware on them that is incompatible with the new G4 chips. SCSI cards with outdated firmware and/or software are also likely candidates. To resolve the issue, you should reinstall the original processor, download any software necessary to update the PCI cards’ firmware, update the firmware, and then install the Encore/ST G4 Duet card again."

My firmware for the machine is compatible, but my video card is the wildcard.

Does that make more sense?

Thanks!

Have you e-mailed their tech support address? I found them to be pretty quick to respond.

I have a second video card that caused me problems with the Duet 1.8. I took it out and my machine got more stable. I say "more stable" as it continued to have freeze ups. I ended up returning the upgrade as it didn't seem to work well on my system. Hope you have better luck than I did...
