can you tell me why my 64gb sanddisk card can not be read by my ipad ?

Basically iPads do not support 64GB SD cards because the formatting needed to get the full 64GB of space cannot be read by the iPad, i.e ExFAT.

I assume that it's an SD card of some sort ? If it's an SDXC card then how is it formatted - from the page that you posted from :

If it's not formatted as ExFAT then how did the photos get onto the card ? If you copied them onto it yourself then you need to create a DCIM directory off the root of the card, with the photos underneath it, and the photo filenames need to be exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension i.e. in a similar format as if a camera had created/written them

It's probably been formatted as ExFAT, which is not recognised by the kit, so you won't be able to copy the photos that are currently on the card with the kit. How was the card formatted, on your computer or directly on the camera ? I don't have any 64 gig cards, but I always format mine in the camera - when you've copied the photos from the card onto your computer so that you have a copy of them, then you could try formatting the card in your camera and then take a test shot and see if the kit then recognises it.

If you format the card now then you will delete all the photos that you currently have on it. Personally I always format my cards in my camera (you could potentially do it via your computer and format them in a different format and see if your camera will then recognise the card) - but if your camera formats 64 gig SDXC cards as ExFAT then you won't be able to use them if camera-formatted with the kit.

You can try formatting it via your camera again and take another test shot and see if the kit recognises it, and try formatting it via your computer and see if your camera accepts it and if you can take a photo with it and use the kit.

You won't be able to copy them from that card to the iPad with how the card is currently formatted, you will need to copy them to your computer instead.
