Double Layer DVD or not?

I have a Early 2006 Intel iMac.

I thought this came with the capability to burn double-layer DVDs?

Under system profiler, under Disc Burning, under DVD Write, it says: -R, -RW

Shouldn't there be a DL in there?

I have a MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-846.

Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Any suggestions of how to get this issue resolved?

Spoke to Apple on the phone. She suggested I zap the PRam, which we both thought would have no effect, but after doing so, system profiler now shows 2048KB of cache and +R, +RW, and +R DL DVD writing support!

Seems odd to me.

I did run into a few snags thought. After zapping the PRAM, I got a crash on startup. It said hold the power button to restart. Which I did. It stated up ok. THen I decided to restart one more time and the same thing happened again.

Below is the report. Any thoughts on what is going on?
