Why does iTunes delete my itunesprefs.xml?

Every time I open iTunes I have to agree to the License Agreement.

This started happening around the time I upgraded to iTunes 11.0.4.4.

I have Windows 7, so I moved and let iTunes recreate the C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes directory, but this has not helped.

Then, I notice that whenever I quit iTunes the file itunesprefs.xml is deleted. Is this normal?

Thanks,

Jim

Guys, I regret to say that, but I do not get what is hanging over your attachment to McAfee. I and people who listen to me uninstalled hundreds of McAfee AV's over that time(last five months) and every time and time again it fixes the problem. Not only Itunes preferences problems. There are so many alternatives, why pay for inferior support with false positives, while free excellent AV alternative systems that are available from Microsoft or Avast. McAfee does not care, didn't then and will not now. They are just so deep in corporate market, consumer market means nothing to them. You want to use Apple products - lose it. I have no personal agenda or feelings, that is just technical support forum and my advice is technical only.

I don't think it's being attached to McAfee because a lot us are probably 1 or 2 year subscribers to McAfee and cannot get a refund so changes can't be made until the plan is expired and who's to say that this iTunes preference issue couldn't happen again with another anti-virus service... nothing is ever a guarantee. I just can't figure out why the two of them(iTunes & McAfee) were working perfectly fine for two months, they both make updates all the time it seems. Hopefully those two sides can get their crap together so us the consumers don't have to go through this annoying matter.

Just adding my two cents here. I started having problems a few days ago as described here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5472673?answerId=23484991022#23484991022&ac_cid=op123456#23484991.

I never had any issues with iTunes until this started happening. I am running McAfee, so it seems that either the latest iTunes doesn't like the latest McAfee, or vice versa. I turned off real-time scanning and in that fifteen minutes iTunes behaved. It is back on now (I only turned it off for 15 minutes to test) and we'll see what happens. FYI, I have McAfee Security Center, firewall and anti-virus, that came installed on my Dell.

Just to remind everyone, it's important to post your problem on the McAfee Forum here:

https://community.mcafee.com/message/297372#297372 (you will need to create an account if you haven't done it yet). You may be asked (via a PM) to help them gather some logs off of your system, if asked, please do it!

They are starting to notice that the problem is possibly related to the real time scanner.

It is also highly recommended that you open a support case with McAfee as well and direct them to this forum link and the one on McAfee's Forum.

Also, I tested with the latest and greatest version of iTunes 11.1.2.31 (released 10/22/2013) and this did not resolve the issue (why would it, appears to be a McAfee scanner issue),
