.rar files URGENT!

.rar files URGENT!

How do i extract a .rar file?? Have downloaded a TV show file that is in a .rar format but can't play it since it is unrecognizable to quicktime or VLC player. For windows, you just get the winRAR software then the .rar files get automatically associated with it for extraction before playing. Have also tried the Rar for Mac OSx but doesn't seem to work, can't even install the thing??

Hi

You need to download some software that allows you to expand RAR archives. I'm not at my Mac at the moment, but I think it's UnRarX I use and I've never had any problems with it. What RAR software are you using? What errors do you get when installing it?

stuffit expander 9.x (which should have been part of the default OS X install) will expand RAR files.

v10.0.2 is the latest version.

Thanks. I tried to use the MAC version of the winRAR but i just can't install it.

Here's UnRarX, like Rodney addressed. I use it, too, and it does the trick.
