Clusters- what am I doing wrong?

I know this has been beaten to death but I'm really frustrated. I never had any problems setting up clusters in Compressor 3 and getting them to work. I have an 8 core mac pro with 16 gigs of ram. When I would transcode dv to m2v, activity monitor showed usage at about 95%. Then I downloaded FCP Xand that seemed to hose the setup- now only runs at 35%. (Fortunately, I have another set up clone on another hardrive and that still works- no FCP X).
So the I decided to download Compressor 4. I read the manual. I followed intructions on setting up a cluster. But when I submit a job, only "this computer" shows up. It uses 35% of core resources. If I check the box next to it (computer plus share) it won't even encode. Would somebody please provide a step by step description of how an old geezer like me can set up a cluster on my mac pro and actually get it to work. Your indulgence is most appreciated.

Russ: well here's some good news and some bad news. JP at tech support actually telephoned me back yesterday and reported that they were able to reproduce my problem consistently. The bad news: they were only occasionally able to get a cluster to work by using some of Warren Teal's suggestions (check and uncheck "share this computer" numerous times, rename the cluster, reboot etc.). Once they got it to work, the cluster would continue to be shown when the submit button was pressed. However, this was completely hit or miss. They are continuing to try to develop a fix.

I sent them an email back after wasting more time with my setup. I never had a problem setting up a cluster in Compressor 3.5.x and getting it to work. I think this is a case of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Although it is a tiny bit inconvenient going into system setting to set up the cluster, it always worked for me. And as far as being able to share from FCP X, I don't think that is a necessity either since most editors export a master movie self contained before bringing it into compressor manually.

Sounds about right to me.

Qmaster is more finicky working with C4 than it ever was working with earlier versions.

I never use the send to Compressor workflow, so the only advantage with C4 is greater MPEG4 options and the http streaming presets.
