Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
Just purchased an LG Mac Compatible Slim Portable DVD Writer to use with my 2011 iMac because I replaced the internal optical drive with an SSD drive. When I connect the drive via USB I get an initialization error. Any suggestions as to what might work to resolve this? I will contact LG this week but they are closed for the weekend so I thought I would ask here. Here's a pic of the error message:

Something new I was never, ever aware of.
There, again, I haven't ever replaced my SuperDrive and/or replaced it with an additonal hard drive or SSDin its place.
I was only aware of the fact that an external Apple Superdrive would only work with certain models, but did not know of the relationship of the internal drive vs. DVD player vs. external drive. thanks.
That is why I asked if you had the originally included superdrive installed in the system. Which you never bothered answering.
