TNT shipment tracking woes - familiar?

(Because the other thread is huge)

Ordered my MacBook online on 28th May (Sunday), and was given a delivery date of 7th June. I can track the shipment fine through TNT. Only problem is, it's the 6th of June and the status hasn't changed since June 1st. It's still in China:

Pick up date 31 May 2006
Destination Edinburgh
Delivery Date
Signatory
Date Time Location Status
01 Jun 2006 20:40 Suzhou Shipped From Originating Depot
31 May 2006 19:20 Suzhou Consignment Received At Transit Point

Two phonecalls to TNT yielded the same answer: the last place it was scanned was the depot in China and it's still on schedule for delivery on the 7th, so it should be fine. Now I'm no expert on the logistics of international shipping, but it strikes me as highly unlikely that TNT will be able to get my MacBook from China to Scotland inside a day and a half when it normally seems to take them a week and a half.

Has anyone else had (or is having) a similar experience?

TNT tracking is woeful. I don't believe it reflects reality to any great extent. I received my Macbook yesterday in Manchester. When I rang them on Friday they guaranteed I would receive it on Monday. By Sunday I was doubtful as tracking suggested it was still in Holland and the first indication it was in the UK was when it went up as out for delivery at 0746 on Monday morning.

It's worth the wait!

That's the status I've got right now. On Apple it says that expected delivery is today - the 6th.

I called TNT and they said that it's on its way. I MIGHT get it today, but it's more likely that I will get it tomorrow. Furthermore they said that I should call them later today to check if it can be ready for delivery today.

Well,

first shipping: Ordered May 23rd, shipped May 26th, Receiced May 30th. Tracking was wonderful.

second shipping (a replacement unit): Ordered May 31st, Shipped June 3rd, tracking is: hold back due to technical problems since June 4th.
TNT says it is not in China anymore, but can't tell me when it will be deliverd.
They say it is scheduled for the 9th (but no guarantee).
Apple's web site says meanwhile: June 10th (a Saturday, not sure
if TNT will deliver Apple packages on a saturday). Moreover, by telephone Apple allows delivery till june 13th (tuesday).

So, it is not only TNT which is annoying, it is Apple, too -
when it comes to delivery status information. It seems to
me that my replacement unit will take longer than my original purchase 😟

Dirk

Still waiting for mine.....

Was called today by TNT (after chasing yesterday) and was told it flew out to Holland on the 3rd and then got stuck in customs....should be with them today or tomorrow and I should get it tomorrow or Thursday.....the wait continues.
I ordered this thing on 26th and was told due to my 3 faulty MBP's that I was on priority 1!.....13 days doesn't seem much of a priority tbh!

Well, I just called TNT again. They said that it would definitely be here tomorrow. Actually my macbook is here in Denmark (where I live), but it could not be delived until tomorrow.
The status on the TNT-tracking-site is still the same (Pudong Int. Airport - Linehaul Delay) but I believe that it's just because of lack of updates.

Anyway, I should have my macbook by tomorrow. That's great!

Hahaha_: Prio 1. Nice joke.

They told me this too. Depending on the person you are
talking to this varies. FIrst,I have been told that they
place the new order into the system for immediate build.
Another person says, it will mbe shipped "express".
Another says: "It will beship immedaiately when build, not more not less.

Basically, I have nop clue what is does mean: Prio-1. But
for sure, it does not mean a.s.a.p under my assumption.

Nobidy can tell me, when my unit is arriving - only pure
speculatiuon - no facts.

Dirk

The last entry in my TNT tracking report shows:

02 Jun 2006 12:00 Pudong International Airport
Potential Linehaul Delay Due To Technical Problems

I spoke to TNT yesterday who told me that it was in transit to Europe but when I called them again today they said that it was probably still in China and I should call Apple since they weren't sure why it had not been scanned recently. Apple said that they were experiencing some shipping issues at the moment but that my laptop was not missing and should arrive at some point. Not very helpful really. I guess that I will have to give it until the end of the week and then I will call Apple again if there is no news and ask for a new MacBook to be send out. It's very frustrating.

Hurrah, it seems to have arrived in Arnhem although the status message is "Receiver On Holiday". Oddly there are two entries, one for yesterday and one for today so who knows what is happening.

Update: TNT said that the package should be out for delivery to me today and so my local delivery center is going to look into it and give me a call. Personally I think that the laptop is still on the European mainland but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I am wrong and they are right!

Yep, mine too. Monday and Tuesday national holiday in the Netherlands? Lucky for some!

Date Time Location Status
06 Jun 2006 15:30 Arnhem Hub Receiver On Holiday
06 Jun 2006 12:34 Arnhem Hub Consignment Received At Transit Point
05 Jun 2006 12:00 Arnhem Hub Receiver On Holiday
01 Jun 2006 20:40 Suzhou Shipped From Originating Depot
31 May 2006 19:20 Suzhou Consignment Received At Transit Point

Update: It was Whitsun apparently. Sunday 4th and Monday 5th were national holidays. Presumably the fact that everything is moving again means they're back at work.
