New ssd install in MBP (mid 2009) and a few migration questions

Installed snow leopard (10.6.8?) and a new crucial m500 480gb in my MBP today. I chose a new install as opposed to carrying my old stuff from my old hdd and previous PowerBook.

I haven't installed mountain lion yet (reluctant to from the reviews and a few bugs they have to work out) and have a few questions on migrating some of my info from my hdd (now in an external case) to my new ssd......

-I would assume I will be using migration assistant?

-What trim program would be best to use with snow leopard? (I was checking out trim enabler 2.2 download)

-How do I move all of my photos from the hdd to the new ssd?

-How do I move the videos from my Flip camera to the new ssd? (I want to move the whole program along with the MANY videos I had along with it)

-my iTunes videos/music would need to move over too-how?

-Microsoft word/excel?

And, I think lastly, what about organization? Would creating 2 logins (one for me and one for my wife) help us to organize our contacts, calendars, etc? Would we be able to share the same music, photos, and contacts between us? Maybe a link to organizing within snow leopard and multiple users would be another big help for a noob like me!

Sorry for such basic questions!

Okay, I've got how to move the iTunes info from my hdd to my ssd, but how would I move the iPhoto info from my hdd to my ssd? Will it automatically include all of my videos too?

And the Flip program that includes all of my videos of my family-do I just drag the whole flip application to my applications folder on my ssd?

All the data you have in iPhoto is saved on your iPhoto library. If you didn't modify the place, it's stored in Pictures folder in the hard drive, so go there and copy it to the Pictures folder of the SSD disk. It includes everything, so you will recover all videos and photos.

Do you remember if Flip came with an installer? If not, drag it to Applications and it will work as usual, but you may not find your videos if they were stored in a different folder. I don't know how this app works, so I can't help you with it

Tried using this word for word but I cannot for the life on me get my iTunes info from the external hdd to my new internal ssd. I just can't understand this. I did it word for word and getting extremely frustrated at this point.

I reopened iTunes and there's nothing. Once I hit okay the external just isn't copying my stuff over. I just don't get it.......

I have tried to be as precise as possible to help you understand:

Okay under devices on the left I have:

Crucial ssd

iDisk

Hitachi hdd

I click on hitachi hdd (which is now my external drive and plugged in) and get folders in the right window.

Apps, library, system, users, home, and lost+found? (Don't know what it is. I click on it and have 10 folders with 7 digit numbers under them. I click them and there is nothing. Don't know what they are)

I click users>John>then I have:

Desktop, documents, downloads, library, movies, music, pictures, public, sites, send registration, and 4 duplicate annihilator logs (downloaded from when I had my PowerBook iPhoto screwup years ago)

I then click the music folder and have:

ITunes

Here's where it gets really wierd. (Hasn't it been wierd enought already?)

In the iTunes folder I have about 30 folders that are very random. I have about 20 folders that have names of bands mp3 files-shouldn't they be IN another iTunes folder instead of being by themselves?

In the iTunes folder I have:

ITunes library.itl, iTunes music, iTunes music library.xml, Previous iTunes libraries, temp file, album artwork, iTunes library extras, iTunes library genius.itdb, mobile applications.

Shouldn't the mp3's be IN one of these folders instead of by themselves?

And what I'd the folder "automatically add to iTunes"? I don't know if I created it or its supposed to be there.

I would like to get all of the items into one place, drag them to the desktop, dismount the external, then drag the folder into iTunes on my new ssd. This seems to be the easiest way to me?
