Hi Thomas

I used the Apple Support area on this website and received replies to my email account, I have then been replying to these emails. I have just received advice to contact the Account Security team so I will be doing this.

I have a Mac Desktop, MacBook, 2 IPhone's, and an IPad that are currently using the same apple account. The software is up to date on all devices. I first receive this message on my iPhone and/or iPad (depending which one I'm using at the time) "Photo Stream. Photos for the iCloud account "iCloud" cannot be accessed. Review your account information in Settings." I also receive this message "Sign into iCloud. Enter the Apple ID password for (<<my Apple ID>>)". I then enter my password and get this message "incorrect Apple ID Password. If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it." The password I enter is correct. This has happened many times over the last couple of months where I am forced to reset my password using the link 'I forgot'. Ive even tried to ignore these messages thinking that maybe there is just a technical issue however I attempt to make purchases on iTunes and get the same password error message.

A few times I have even received emails stating that 'your Apple ID password has been reset' when I didn't even reset it that day and I don't even receive the initial email 'how to reset your Apple ID password'. Very weird.

I don't know if this is a coincidence but this has only happened since I upgraded my iPhone 3 to an iPhone 5 which was about 2 or 3 months ago. Can an apple account cater for all these devices???

I just need to find time during business hours to make a phone call to get help on this issue.

HERE IS THE ANSWER.. This was happening to me, of course you think you typed the pwd wrong on the small phone or something. I had read there are kids in China trying to hjack your account to download apps for free. What is probably happening is they cracked you email account. Therefore they intercept the change password and change it back to what ever they want. Then your device stops working and you change to back and so the beat goes on. Change your email password to something totally different then when they attempt to change your password (since they know your ID) all you will see are the emails of them trying to change it but itunes devices will still work. Apple needs to implement more security for password reset. IE to reset password require a answer to a known question BEFORE sending email with pws reset link. Everyone else like banks and etc do that... Good luck..I still get the emails but laugh at them trying.

Hi ELR123

I had the same issue as you (see my post above). I got in contact with Apple Support, my problem is now resolved. My email account was compromised. Someone obviously knew my Apple ID and somehow had access to my email account so was easily resetting my apple password. I simply redirected my password reset emails to another email account - you do this in the 'manage my account' area. I now see emails advising 'here is the link to reset your password' however my password is not being reset. They keep trying because I get several email notifications. This has been my solution, you should try this!

Good luck.

I've been getting these same emails three and four times a day, even on days when neither my computer nor my Iphone have been turned on. I only have two registered devices, and have never accessed any apple product or service on any other device,.

Not on does apple refuse to acknowledge this is even an issue, they also have no way, exceot telephone, to contact customer support. Fat lot of good that does me - I cannot use a regular voice telephone.

They keep recommending turning on the two-setp log in process. I would but I can't access my account. You have to wait something like two weeks between account changes or some such nonsense.

For now, I am going to try ignoring the reset password emails and see waht happens. Any ideas on what i can try after that?

I too, have been getting these messages since June. They are now coming in once a week. I'd ignore them for a while at the beginning, then I'd get an apple message that my account credit card had been changed and an app had been downloaded. Both times this happens the apps were free games that no one I knew had ever heard of. Apple care just thought I 'd given out my password, which I had not.

Scary and puzzling. I now reset my password immediately., because fortunately I can get into my account by answering my security questions. Chinese kids???

I'm not sure I understand how to forward the reset email within my Manage My Account section. ELR123, what exactly did you do that worked?

Thanks

Hi prbarret

This is what I did to resolve my issue.

Sign into your apple account on the apple.com site. Go to 'manage my apple ID'

Click on 'password and security' in the left section of the screen. You will then be asked to answer your security questions, answer these. Then you will see a 'rescue email address section', edit your rescue email address to another email address!

The hackers will then try to reset your password but will have your old email address details so they will not receive the 'how to reset your Apple ID password' link. You'll more than likely see these emails coming through to your new email address, but you shouldn't get the confirmation of a reset actually taking place.

If your prob was the same as mine, this will do the trick.

Good luck

If you saw resets actually taking place, that means that your e-mail address was compromised. Someone had access to it, and was able to intercept the reset e-mail and complete the reset process. If you have not done so already, you should change the password on that e-mail address immediately! Changing the rescue e-mail address should not be necessary if you are able to do this. (If you have somehow lost access to your e-mail address entirely, and cannot recover it, then you would need to change the rescue e-mail address.)

Also, note that enabling two-factor authentication on your Apple ID, as I have recommended several times on this topic, would prevent a third party from even starting the password reset process, even if they did have access to your rescue e-mail address.

Thank you both for your quick answers. One problem: Just before I chimed in here last night, I reset my

apple password easily by answering my 2 security questions. After I wrote here last night, I tried to Manage

My Account to be sure I was enabling two-factor authentication. The site no longer likes my answers to the

security questions, which were fine 2 hours earlier. I checked in again this morning and the same thing happened.

What's blocking my security questions?

Nov 26, 2013 8:17 PM in response to prbarret

So this is what I've done. I've changed my apple id email address to a completely different one. Apple Care walked me through this. The agent did not recommend that I set up a rescue email address so I have none before or now. We were both puzzled that no message allowing me to enable two-factor authentication showed up where it was supposed to be. Thomas, do you know where I'd find it? It's not on the password and security page.

One thought: Do I need to create a rescue email address to get this two-factor authentication button to show up?

Thanks for your help and I hope that this changed email address will stop the hacking into my apple id password. And I'd really like to ensure this by doing the two-factor authentication.

I have had the same problem. Applyimg some logic after reading all these posts and adding it to my experiences, I would say the following:

the problem relates to logging into your apple id from a device that is either above the limit of what you're allowed in number, or is no longer registered on your list of devices, or somehow is shared with another apple id.

In my case, it seems to happen after I use my old ipad (which I have now given to my 10 year old) and update apps (this iPAD still has my ID associated with it - I may have removed it from my list of devices or maybe it's because my son has his imessage account running on it which uses his apple ID.

I'm confident it has nothing to do with anyone hacking my account.

I keep getting reset password emails i havent tried to reset and my email is not something that someone would accidently mistype
