Macbook Air 2013 fan is very loud

Just purchased...and the fan is running all the time. Tried the SMC reset - no change. When I open it up, the fan cranks up right away and continues to run. It's a contstant sound...not super loud but noticeable. My old Macbook is sitting here as well, and the fan isn't running...and it's working the same

Should I take it back!?!?

Once you start using the computer for the first time Spotlight indexing will start.

It will take a while to finish and CPU intensive.

CPU/GPU intensive activitities will produce heat.

To dissipate heat, fans will run at a higher rpm.

That is normal.

I just had the same problem, In the activity monitor a process ouuc or something similar was the cause. I googled it and it was associated with a huawei modem's software MOBILE APP, which I deleted...and restarted and the noise and fan stopped...what a delight. I used the computer with this noise for month now...thinking it was a design problem.... but it seems that poorly written software can cause this. So... look in the activity monitor first!.
