iMac will not automatically connect to my wifi network

iMac is 21.5, mid 2011, running OSX Lion 10.7.5. AirPort express is 2nd Gen version 7.6.3. It will not save a preferred network, so I have to select my network every time.

AirPort Express 802.11N (2nd generation), Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Hi, this has worked for a few...

Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...

10.5, 10.6, 10.7 & 10.8…

System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.

10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x/10.8.x instructions...

System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.

The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.

If using Wifi/Airport...

Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.

This has all been done under a completely new login ID, with the same result.

Some times when I start up my computer, it senses 2 of my "jayhawk" networks. I assume that it is sensing the two seperate bands from my AirPort. I could possibly have picked one band one time and another the next time because they were both identical, but I am not sure.

Any other suggestions?

These are all of the screen shots from my AirPort utility. I don't have 2 seperate Jayhawk configurations. Under wireless options, I have both 2.4 GHz and 5GHz connections enabled, which I figure is why I see 2 Jayhawk networks when I restart my computer and get the "none of your wireless netowrks are available." eventually one of them disappears.User uploaded fileUser uploaded fileUser uploaded fileUser uploaded fileUser uploaded fileUser uploaded fileUser uploaded file

Do you see any settings in my AirPort utility that I could change that would make a difference?

Finally solved it! My prefered network had WEP for security.User uploaded file

When I deleted my prefered netowrk and tried to create one from scratch, I used WEP for security, and it could not be found.User uploaded fileUser uploaded file

when I switched it over to WPA2, it found the network, remembered the network, and automatically connected when I restarted. I KNEW it had to be some error on my part (as all of you probably did too). Sorry for taking up a lot of your time with my error, but THANK YOU all for trying to help me (especially BD Aqua).
