MOVE PATCHES TO "WarCraftIII Folder" BEFORE APPLYING
I had to move the downloaded patches to the "WarCraftIII Folder" in Applications, in order to get these patch to run. Try that if you haven't been able to patch. Note you need both 1.20c and 1.20d patches to be current (see below).
The Frozen Throne PATCHES (1.20c and 1.20d)
According to following Blizzard website
http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=mwr0642p you
only need to install Frozen Throne patches if you have Frozen Throne expansion installed (You do
not need to download and install the Reign of Chaos patches separately).
i) Go to
http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=mwr0744p
ii) Click link for 1.20c (part way down 1st page)
iii) Click link for 1.20d (scroll way down to find this)
TIP Ignore the link at top of page that says "Version 1.20d Patch" (it just reloads the same page you're viewing, it is
not a download link.)
Or download FrozenThrone patches from FTP site (scroll down to bottom):

THIS INSTALL WORKED (iMac G5, OS X 10.4.6):
I have WarCraftIII Battle Chest (Reign of Chaos + Frozen Throne) 2 CD's.
1) Boot from OS X 10.4 CD and run Disk Utility (repair disk, then repair prefs) - to 'clean things up' BEFORE new software install. Reboot from internal HD.
2) Install apps from Reign of Chaos CD (v1.14), then Frozen Zone CD (v1.14).
3) Immediately apply the patches in order i) 1.20c then ii) 1.20d. (MOVE patches from Desktop to "WarcraftIII Folder" before running - only way I got patches to run.)
4) Boot from OS X 10.4 CD and run Disk Utility (repair disk, then repair prefs) - to 'clean things up' AFTER new software install. Reboot from internal HD.
Both apps run fine (although I do get some flashes of desktop when video intro first starts up), games play with no problems
*MULTIPLE MAC OS USER ACCOUNTS ON SINGLE MAC* - Fix for problems with WarCraftIII Prefs and Defining Single Player Profiles
After installation from Admin Acct, I was not able to set up a Single Player Profile in WarCraftIII after launching app from other 'non-Admin' Mac OS User Accounts (WarCraftIII Error message said "There is not enough space left on disk to save this profile. Please free up more disk space and then try again." I have 234GB available, so knew that this wasn't the problem. After several hours of work (and NOT finding anyone who has posted this message before on Apple or Blizzard websites), I realized it was a permissions problem. The managed Mac OS User Accounts only had "ReadOnly" permissions. Since I had read elsewhere about WarCraftIII preferences being changed globally by other Mac OS Users on the same computer, I used the suggested fix and copied the entire "WarCraftIII Folder" into the Documents folder of each Mac OS User Account. Then, while logged in as that User, I reset the permissions for the entire "WarCraftIII Folder" so that User had Read/Write permissions (applied to entire folder, with checkbox at bottom of GetInfo window). Now each Mac OS User Account has their own copy of WarCraft III, and can set App preferences as they wish (without changing others prefs), and they can set up a Single Player Profile (so that Custom Games can be hosted with friends they know).
