2013 Honda Civic Si, SMS Text Message Function says "Unsupported Device" when trying to use this feature with iPhone 5. Can anyone help with this?

In my 2013 Honda Civic Si, I'm trying to use the SMS Text Message Function, but keep getting the error message, "Unsupported Device".
I use an iPhone 5 with latest iOS 6.1.4.
HandsFreeLink works perfectly fine with my iPhone for voice calls and for streaming Bluetooth Audio. Does text messaging not work because of iMessage? Does anyone have any suggestions for this issue?

Thanks in advance!

Sadly, handsfreelink.com says that the iPhone won't support this:

Which is pretty lame. I was looking forward to using the send feature. It seems much more distracting to use Siri to send replies. I guess the better option is to not reply, and I usually don't, but sometimes time is of the essence.

I hear you. I just went to my Honda dealer about something else and asked them. They indicated that the send function is SUPPOSED to work with Blackberry and Android, but not iPhone (which is about as insane as it gets).

I'm still holding out hope that the EyesFree app and corresponding software for Honda are made available sooner than later (I'm not sure if it's available in the US or not, but it isn't in Canada, at least for the Civic).

Thanks for the heads up!

I have a 2014 accord sport and use a iPhone 5 7.1. I cannot get text message to work through bluetooth nor can I hear an alert when my phone receives a text. I have paired the phone several times and have notifications on. I also tried trying alerts, banners, and none for text notifications and still no success. Phone works fine placing calls and receiving calls through bluetooth. Any suggestions. Thanks!

Hey Heavykay,
Sorry about the delayed reply, but I just found this email today in my inbox.

When I get a Text Message, I hear the same Audio "Text Message" Alert sound as on my iPhone, but I hear it over the car's speakers instead of my phone.
Then, on the Dashboard, I click on "Phone" button, then scroll down and click on "Text Message".
On the i-MID display it asks if I want to read/hear the Text Message "YES/NO", click on "YES", and the text message is spoken aloud over the car's speakers.

The Pre-Written Replies built-in to Honda's Text Message Feature are, unfortunately, still not usuable. It's frustrating, but I hope a future Apple update will remedy this. I will call or visit my local Honda Dealer to see if they know if Honda maybe has a firmware update for 2013+ Civics and Accords to resolve this issue.

Let me know if you have found a solution yet for the "Pre-written Reples" function part of the SMS Text Message Feature.

Anyways, this is what my Bluetooth Settings look like iPhone 7.1.1 paired with my 2013 Civic Si:User uploaded file
