can I set up the new TC with a FiOS MI424WR Rev. F router. I'd like to use the TC as my rouer and have the FiOS modem/router set up as a bridge (I have TV service and phone service, and the modem is connected with coax cable).

You probably cannot bridge the modem if you get TV and phone services through it.
The TC will have to be bridged.
This seems to be inconceivable...If that were the case, then I (and everyone else in a similar situation; I cannot believe that I am the only one facing this) would lose the majority of TC's functionality, which is the reason I bought it in the first place... If anybody has been able to successfully bridge the FiOS router, I really would appreciate some help..

What functions are you going to lose in bridge mode.. The TC is far from overwhelmed with features..
None of the disk or usb features are lost..
None of the wireless features are lost..
You give up NAT-PMP for upnp which is more commonly used anyway.
So what will you miss??
what about the new ac WI-Fi protocol ( as well as n which the FiOS does not support), the dual band frequency, the Wi-Fi range. that's what I can think of off hand. Basically, the range and signal strength and speed on the FiOS are very inferior and that is why I am adding the TC. For instance, Apple TV is VERY slow and hitting snags in Wi-Fi mode, airplay buffers FOR EVER and is basically useless. those are the kind of things that I am trying to avoid by making the TC as my primary.
I set up a TC last evening onto a similar FiOs router/modem. The TC was placed next to the FiOs router/modem. In my case I bridged the TC with an ethernet connection. I then went into the router/modem settings and disabled its wireless radio. I now have the FiOs unit acting as just a modem with a bridge pass through to the TC. My TC is my only wireless radio and it works in all wireless modes.
I think the confusion is the TC is not a modem, just a router. If you wish to use the TC for better wireless coverage, place the TC somewhere else in your house and bridge it off of the router/modem. In that case the speed between the two routers will be limited by the N connection common to them unless you run an ethernet cable.

Yeah as stated.. with ethernet to the TC none of the wireless is a problem.. you can in fact turn off wireless in the FIOS and just use the TC.
You might be confusing the bridge terms.. there is wireless bridge.. that is not what you are doing here.
And there is router bridge.. you are simply turning off the router function fo the TC not its full wireless which is still set to create a wireless network.
hhhmmmm... ok, granted, I am not the most savvy person when it comes to technology and especially computers and Wi-Fi, so I may indeed be confusing some terms etc. But, in any event, then, what is the best way to incorporate the new TC at home, with the FiOS router still being connected as well given TV and telephone servicde, and being able to sully utilize the Wi-Fi and backup and networking features of the TC? thanks again for any help....
Keep the FIOS as the router.. that is still the best option.. and may indeed be the only option.
Bridge the TC.. that is router bridge.. and plug it by ethernet into the FIOS.
You actually do not even need to turn off FIOS wireless.. use it as a guest wireless.. because the one thing you do lose in this setup is the guest wireless in the TC. So make FIOS your guest wireless.. setting it to a fixed channel is worthwhile.. say channel 1. You can leave the TC on auto.. or also fix it to 6.
You have best of everything really. You lose very little .. at least until broadband speed goes up an order of magnitude and we all need a much higher power router.. which the FIOS is not..
In my case I have the TC right next to the Verizon FiOs modem/router. So, I turned off the Verizon wireless so as not to create interference. As for the configuration, I set the TC to bridged not because I'm savy with these things but because the AirPort Utility on my iPhone told me to.
@LaPastenague, I'm confused about your suggestion the guest wireless doesn't work in bridge mode, mine does.
If you are able to run an ethernet cable from your Verizon FiOs modem/router to another part of your house, that will allow you to set up your TC a distance away to give you better wifi coverage in your house. Stone walls prevent me from doing this. If I need better coverage, I will buy the $99 AirPort Express and set it up in bridge mode working wirelessly from the TC.

@LaPastenague, I'm confused about your suggestion the guest wireless doesn't work in bridge mode, mine does.
Our experience is that bridge mode does allow guest network to be setup.. in the latest firmware, 7.6.3 or the new 7.7 using the latest Airport utility but it doesn't actually work unless the TC is in router mode.
Please post if you have managed to get around this bug.. as it has been posted thousands of times.. and having tested it myself... after posting it would work.. due to foolishly believing the guff in the latest firmware update.. only to discover it did not actually pass packets.. oh well. It isn't the first time I have been proven wrong.. !!
