Iphone 5 dock charger from eBay makes iphone call and text contacts while on charge

Exactly what the title says, my girlfriend purchased an iphone 5 dock charger from eBay, when the phone is plugged in, it randomly calls and text contacts from her phone. It was actually very spooky, plugging her phone in before bed and then watching it magically texting a contact :/

Has anybody ever experienced this, we read that some chargers off eBay are dodgy and can hack a phone?

I can't imagine any advantage to buying a charger off eBay. You can't save that much money over a genuine, new, Apple dock. If it were mine I would return it.

It's probably just defective, not evil. There has been one hack attack on iPhones through a modified charger, but this was a demo at a university, and the details were not published. It has not been seen in the wild.
