Daughter lost ipad1 and only has wireless/wifi internet connection accessablility, is there a way for it to be found if it is 'online'.

Assuming she enabled Find My iPad in iCloud, you can go to iCloud.com, log in to her Apple ID, and track the iPad.

However, I just did on the mini's we bought. 🙂
Unfortunately there's no way to locate it if you didn't enable Find My iPad :/
You could try sending an iMessage or email to the iPad with your contact info and hope that someone nice finds your iPad and returns it.
