Samsung Galaxy S4 Mac Compatability

Hi everyone, I will be getting my Samsung Galaxy S4 tomorrow, and I was wondering if anyone of you who own the Galaxy S4 can tell me how simple it is to transfer music, photos, video, and other media to and from the Galaxy onto the Mac (iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie/FCP, etc). Thanks.

@Gotham1,

Do you mean the Leef microSD Class 10 Flash Memory Card and the Leef Bridge Dual USB Flash Drive? Is that all I would need? I am about to buy the Galaxy S4 and have a Macbook Air, but this is my first smartphone so I have zero idea about what I would need with a phone that has an SD card, but I do know I will need one since touchwiz takes up so much space on the S4.

Thanks!

I used the LEEF Bridge (with dual usb and mircro ports) It's available in

several sizes for transfers and as a regualar flash drive. (buy it direct or from Amazon, see link below)

I used the Astro File Manager with it.

It handles all media from files, music, video, photos, etc from my Macs to my Android and vise versa.

It's fast & easy. I've been using my LEEF Bridge Flash for months and it's the best thing since sliced bread.

The SD card in the phone is great and gives you lots of memory. The S4 gives you a

choice to place your app on the SD card or device memory built into the phone. Memory is cheap

so investing in a Large SD card is smart.

Dropbox can move media too.

Cheers!

Astro File Manager. The Smart Switch is used only for Initial transfers when setting up your Android.

The LEEF can be used anytime from Mac to Android and vise versa, plus it's a handy flash drive w/ built in key chain. This is simply easy easy easy, just upload the data & transfer.

The nice thing about the LEEF Bridge is it's a flash drive that works flawlessly w/ Androd File Manager (a free app). I've been using it for months - just plug the LEEF into my Mac or Android (it moves data Either way: Mac to Android, Andoid to Mac, even PC's), upload the chosen data, unplug/eject the flash, extend the micro or usb port, plug it into the other device and download the data. It transfers everything, all you need is the Android File Manager (depending on the data sometimes this isn't even needed) if your using an Android. Easy.

Cheers.

Hi All,

For those of you who have a Galaxy S4. How do you like it so far? I'm seriously considering switching to a S4 but am concerned about the compatibility with my MBP.

I'm pretty fed up my iPhone. I like the easy of use, especially because I have a MBP. My calendar (for business), and emails, work seamlessly between all my Apple devises. However, the screen is too small for my hands and I don't feel they have made a ground breaking update in a while. Don't get me started on the new operating system. It's like having an iPhone that runs Windows 8!

Thanks for the info.

I have a Galaxy S4 phone and a Macbook computer. I love them both! I agree, I wouldn't have an iPhone. I use google calendar which synchs between my phone and computer on google. I don't use iCal because they messed up synching a while back. To transfer photos, I use dropbox. The galaxy S4 is a great phone. We have Motorola phones for work and the difference is like night and day. The S4 has a nice big screen for reading books and watching videos, but it isn't so big that it doesn't fit in my pocket. It also takes great photos. I do recommend an Otter Box protector, though, as the Galaxy has a reputation for being a bit fragile.

Good luck!

"They messed up synching"...when you type something onto google calendar or in the phone's calendar it synchs into iCal just fine. But when you type something into iCal it doesn't synch to the phone or to google calendar. It used to synch both directions just fine, but one day apple did an "upgrade" and it stopped synching from iCal to the phone. I sent them a report but they never fixed it and never replied to me. It's been several months now, possibly even a year. I just checked it again and it's still broken.

So I just use google calendar, which synchs instantly with the calendar in the galaxy. It really doesn't bother me to go online on the computer to get google calendar. If I'm ever in a place without wifi I just use the phone.

I've got a 27 iMac, Apple TV, you name it. I just switched to the GS4 32gb and really like it. Sure, there's a few tradeoffs, but when I learned how to use it, I'm not going back to my iPhone. It might lock up once in a while, but, I'll take that and the larger screen, capability to customize, etc. I will always be an Apple-coholic, but until they come out with at least a 5in phone, GS4 for me. Good luck. I'd give it a shot. Your provider should allow 14days to return if you don't like it. Amazon sells them with 30day return policy.

I've discovered dropbox and agree with CougarFan2013. It's the best! It's free and whenever I take a photo with my phone it automatically goes to drop box in addition to staying on the phone. I then open drop box on my computer and can move the photo to wherever I want. You can also log on to dropbox from any computer to access the files or photos in there. It's by far the easiest thing I've tried.

Well by the way...if it's water proof then you have worse graphics than the iphone 5. Air gestures...it's just a camera watching them, all phones have that capabilities. Siri a 99 cent app...sure in the land of Nokia maybe, but I can slam my phone to another and get music, but the best part it comes with a extra crack in the screen at a successful download!

All in all you're attracted to gimics and want a phone as big as a laptop. Maybe you should get a notebook, it has a bigger screen than your samsung.

I have the s4 and it's big and bulky and hd looks identical. the 5% better resultion only works on paper and gimics for the wannabe's.
