I have an old mac book pro 17in. I recently had the screen replaced. I am having problems updating the ios. I am stuck at version IOS 10.4.11 Tiger. Anyone knows what I need to do to get it updated so I can go to the newer version which I know I have to pay for.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.11), Can't update it.

You need to buy a disk. Snow Leopard (10.6): http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard

It's not iOS. It's Mac OS X.
