Compatibility of RAW files on Mac OS X 10.6

Hello,

I have a Nikon D5200 digital camera which takes pictures in RAW format. I need to be able to see these pictures on my Mac, but the D5200's format is not supported by my opertating system 10.6.

So I searched for the appropriate Digital Camera RAW update, which is available and was released some time ago (version 4.04). However, this update requires Mac OS X 10.8 so I can't install it on my computer (actually I can't even download the correct version, since it has been replaced by a newer one).

Where can I find an update for 10.6 which gives compatibility with the required RAW formats?

My system is about two years old, and the camera I'm talking about was released more than 6 months ago. I cannot believe that after one and a half years after the release of the OS no support to new file formats is given.

Thanks

Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Newer camera RAW support, so far, is only being done for Lion and Mountain Lion. Similarly, iPhoto and Aperture applications and their shared photo library format have been updated beyond compatibility with Snow Leopard.

When Mavericks debuts this Fall, you'll be three OSX versions behind. I don't know for sure, but my guess is that RAW updates for SL are at a dead end.
