Recovering unsaved word doc on OSX

hi, this is really useful but it only shows the data from one day. Is it possible for me to retrieve work from a week ago? Thanks

This definitely helped me, but the Text Edit only provided me with 1/4 of my paper and the rest was symbols and text that made the file look like hieroglyphics. Is there a way I can change that?
