I changed my appleID and primary email and now I can not access iCloud. ICloud shows my old appleID but I can't change it. How do I get iCloud to work with my updated ID?

I Changed my ISP and therefore changed my email address, which caused me to change my appleID. I had no problems making the changes to my appleID but now I am having problems with iCloud. My old ID is still showing as my iCloud ID and I can not see where or how to change this. I keep getting an annoying pop up box to enter the password for my OLD appleID as well as error messages that I can't back up to iCloud.

CAn someone please tell me how I can fix this so my iCloud works.

THank you!!!!!

Hi, I have just gotten a big thanks I'm my email that made my day and I'm not sure if it was the method that I figured out and posted on the site. As Iv read thru many of the posts, I see it is being used and altered to fit diff devices. Congrats to all of us who take the time to conquer complex problems that the programmers don't imagine when they are writing the software. It took me months, and the night I got it fixed (wrong email for ID,wrong birthdate birthdate) I am so glad so many others were able to fix their devices. Hope everyone has joyous holiday season.

Hey. I had this same problem. My old apple ID was associated with a university account that was deactivated when I left.

TRY THIS REALLY EASY STEP BEFORE YOU GO THROUGH THE PAIN OF SETTING UP A GHOST APPLE ACCOUNT WITH YOUR OLD EMAIL.

This method will erase all your content.

I was able to perform a recovery mode restore:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808?viewlocale=en_US

and then set up my ipad as if like new.

This consists of just 3 steps:

turn off ipad

hold down home button

plug into computer.

The iPad will restore from itunes and you can set it up all over again

THANK YOU!!! I haven't backed my phone up for over 23 weeks, because it reset back to an old email that doesn't even exist anymore. I had to buy a new phone today, and had to update back to May, so all my apps and contacts and things are old now, but at least it's finally fixed!

I think the issue is that you have the option to log in to Itunes and Icloud using separate Apple ID's. At least for me, because I could still download apps, just not back it up or use Facetime.

Thank you!!

Why is iTunes so brilliant on one hand, but virtually completely broken on the other ?

What sort of online company doesn't change all the facets of your account to match your newly verified ID (if you have changed some account login details) ?

This is basic stuff, common logic and courtesy.

Why are there so many very basic problems ? I love my iPhone and I have spent a fair bit of cash in the iTunes store, but I am on the verge or leaving the Apple family, as the interface and workings of iTunes is just so illogical and convoluted, as to make it nearly inoperable.

Why should so many paid up Apple customers be so frustrated ?

Is Apple as divorced from their customers as it appears to me ?

I changed my appleID and primary email and now I can not access iCloud. ICloud shows my old appleID but I can't change it. How do I get iCloud to work with my updated ID?
