Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

I changed my appleID and primary email and now I can not access iCloud. ICloud shows my old appleID but I can't change it. How do I get iCloud to work with my updated ID?

I Changed my ISP and therefore changed my email address, which caused me to change my appleID. I had no problems making the changes to my appleID but now I am having problems with iCloud. My old ID is still showing as my iCloud ID and I can not see where or how to change this. I keep getting an annoying pop up box to enter the password for my OLD appleID as well as error messages that I can't back up to iCloud.

CAn someone please tell me how I can fix this so my iCloud works.

Thank YOU So so so so much for this post. After an entire evening spent with Apple Support and having them locked out of my apple IDs. Not being able to verify my identitiy and scheduling a follow-up call. Your post did the trick. I will still take the call because I want to know what the issue with the DOB verification is and why the apple reps are not aware of this simple solution. Thank you again. Now I want to change my existing Apple ID to what my recovery e-mail address is....but that's a whole other issue that I will deal with at another time.

Here's how I fixed my problem!!!


I treid EVERYTHING on this post up through page 6. I even temporarily bricked my phone trying to hard wipe it and then trying to start it up as a different iphone backup ( I have all the info for the other iphone, thought I could upload it to the messed up phone and then take all the info off)


Here's what worked for me.


Open iTunes on the computer

Open the itunes store

Sign into iTunes using your new username email and password

Click "account" in the store. It should be on the right side of your store

Your apple ID and account summary should pop up.

Next to your apple ID, click edit>

Type your OLD apple ID in that box.

Save, and close out of iTunes.

Wait 5 minute, and try your new password with your old address on your phone, pod, pad.


Seriously the easiest fix ever. I spent 3 days trying to fix my phone, and THIS is what worked

This fix doesn't work for me - already tried it. My ipad is stuck in an infinite loop, looking for me to verify the OLD itunes / icloud account via an old email address. I've even re-created that old email address, and icloud remains stuck - it never tries to re-send the verification email, but continues to wait for verification from the first email it sent, which I can't get. This is also using up my ipad battery double time...
