I changed my appleID and primary email and now I can not access iCloud. ICloud shows my old appleID but I can't change it. How do I get iCloud to work with my updated ID?

I Changed my ISP and therefore changed my email address, which caused me to change my appleID. I had no problems making the changes to my appleID but now I am having problems with iCloud. My old ID is still showing as my iCloud ID and I can not see where or how to change this. I keep getting an annoying pop up box to enter the password for my OLD appleID as well as error messages that I can't back up to iCloud.

CAn someone please tell me how I can fix this so my iCloud works.

THank you!!!!!

Like DaisyNoble.....I could hug you, enewshan! Thank you so much. The only solution that worked! You have returned sanity to an iphone owner who had been sent mad by being unable to accept new terms and conditions for the iCloud. Pure genius. Recreating my original Apple ID with my old (still available) email address seems to have unblocked the impasse. You are a total star and I cannot thank you enough. I will try though....

I had this issue also but I went to icloud in my iPad settings and deleted the icloud account at the bottom of the page. It gives you some scary warnings but go ahead. Then it gives you the option to keep data on your ipad/idevice and you should select it. Then when the account is gone, you have an option to set up a new account using your new apple id. Walk through that just like you did the first time you set it up. I didn't have to create a new apple id account at all. I hope this helps.

Can anyone help me? I am a bit of a technophobe and all I want to do is to upgrade my icloud - I have changed payment cards and it wont accept when I go in and try and add the security code - it keeps saying its invalid - I don't know what to do and there is no number I can call to help me through it - I want to pay for the icloud upgrade - but not £25 for help in getting there! I am trying to do this on an iphone 4S. I don't want to lose anything off the phone.

Hi Gail,

The only reason I want to make a new one is that I can't receive email notifications from Apple support forums because bartharris@mac.com does not work anymore. Only my bartholomewharris@icloud address works, but I can't change this is Manage My Apple ID. It only offers to resend a verification email to my mac.com address, which it tells me does not work.

A bona fide catch-22.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Bart

Hi K_Dog76,

thanks for your Tipp - it worked for me.

My problem was:

I have several iOS devices and a couple of months ago I changed my Apple ID including the primary email-adress. However, I forgot to sign out on all my devices before I changed the ID.

Now I had an iPhone 3GS with still the old Apple ID connected to iCloud including the Find my iPhone app. After transfering this iphone's data on a new iPhone 5, I suddenly hat the problem, that I was not allowed to change the Apple ID, unless I first enter the password. The password was not accepted - neither the old one nor the new one.

Also, as many suggested before, changing the Apple ID back to the old one or creating a new Apple ID based on the old primary email-address did not work, because the old one was blocked by Apple.

What helped me out, was your hint to change the Apple ID directly in iTunes and not on the Apple-ID Website. I changed it back to the old one, then I was able to log in on my new iPhone 5 and deactivate Find my iPhone. In the end, I changed the Apple ID back to my current one.

Thanks a lot!!! 🙂🙂🙂

I have 1 email subscribers iCloud is disabled, I have change 1 Apple ID and primary email, on inbox new email to confirm ok. Then I return to my device (iPhone 5 with FW 7.0.4) signout from iTunes & App Store and then sign in with the new ID ok, I did the same with iMessage and Face Time. On the computer I have also logged on icloud.com successful new ID.

Continuing on my device, I go to Settings / iCloud delete iCloud old , you will just login ID password old and can remove ok, me log in again with the new iCloud ID, so any of my data me and my original device did not have any problems.

I had the exact same problem on my iPhone! It may be a little late to reply to your problem but hopefully it'll help someone on here because it really feels like a helpless problem to have.

I tried everything I could think of to fix this - I tried changing my Apple ID back to the original email address, I tried entering in the old password, resetting the password…anything I could think of. After an hour at Genius Bar and an hour on the phone with a lower level customer support rep, I got transferred to JOSH (who is the best person ever) who walked me through a few things and then finally asked me to try an "out of the box idea." He had me download the application FIND MY FRIENDS, which uses your iCloud login credentials to gain access to the app. By logging in, you're agreeing to the iCloud service agreement and by logging in to the app, it resent the ping (notification) to my phone that I updated my Apple ID email address and iCloud automatically updated my Apple ID to the new email address! I would have never thought that would have worked but it did. It turns out that this is a known sequencing bug in the Apple Software and when I updated my email address, it somehow forgot to notify my phone. It took less than 5 minutes to try this so if you're having the same problem or a similar problem, it's at least worth a try!!! Good luck!

I have changed the email address associated with my Apple Id and I can log on to Apple at a web site.

The problem is my iCloud id is still showing as "old.Address@web.site" please enter password.

The old address does not accept my new password

When I go to iTunes on my iPhone it displays

Sign in to iTunes Store

Enter the Apple ID password for ....

"old.Address@web.site"

Get can't connect to Apple store.

I have changed this in my Apple ID but Apple does not seem to have recognised this or the altered password.

How do I get my primary Apple ID to recognise the "new.Address@web.site"???????????

It is driving me nut

I changed my appleID and primary email and now I can not access iCloud. ICloud shows my old appleID but I can't change it. How do I get iCloud to work with my updated ID?
