My Yamaha AV RX-V675 Reciever AirPlay icon will not click on.

I have just purchased a new Yamaha AV Receiver RX-V675 which is AirPlay capable. I have everything installed and configured as per directions in the Yamaha manual and according to Window& and iTunes directions. iTunes AirPlay icon shows the receiver (with a speaker icon). However when I click to initiate the Yamaha it will not execute nor will a check mark show up. Everything seems set up correctly as far as I know. I am looking for help and a solution. I have updated my firmware on the Yamaha and set up with the following equipment configuration:

  • Dell Studio XPS
  • Win7
  • Yamaha is on a hard wired network connection
  • iTunes 10.2.2.14
  • W7 set up for HomeGroup network and sharing
  • Router - Netgear WGR614v9

Problem is that the Yamaha AirPlay icon in iTunes will not click on.

Hi Richard,

You may want to contact the speaker's manufacturer to verify everything is working on the speaker's end of things.

If you're still having trouble after reaching out to Yamaha, you may find more information by using another one of Apple's support resources - https://expresslane.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.action

Airplay on Yamaha's models is extremely unstable.

It appears that the Airplay broadcast that's built into the receiver will crash - and it does, often.

That said, you can force the receiver to refresh it's Airplay receiver broadcast by renaming the receiver's network name.

1. Load the receiver's web interface in a browser (if you don't know the IP, you can check it in the network settings menu in the onscreen display).

2. Once you do, you should be able to click the 'Settings' button and rename the network.

3. Click the Apply button - this should complete the process of renaming the receiver.

Hello Richard,

Congratulations on your new receiver! Thank you for providing so much information about the situation you are experiencing. I recommend reviewing the steps below to troubleshoot the AirPlay issue you are experiencing. You can skip any of the steps referring to the Apple TV, but I think the information about the recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers is particularly helpful:

Troubleshooting performance issues with AirPlay or AirPlay Mirroring

If you are experiencing intermittent playback or significant network lag with AirPlay or AirPlay Mirroring, it could be due to a weak Wi-Fi connection, interference, or the distance between the Wi-Fi router and your iOS device, Apple TV or AirPort Express. Try the following suggestions:

  • Ensure that other devices are not trying to stream to the same Apple TV at the same time.
  • Turn off Bluetooth on your iOS device by tapping Settings > General > Bluetooth.
  • Ensure that your Wi-Fi router is set up with the recommended settings for the best performance.
  • Certain external devices, such as microwave ovens and baby monitors, may interfere with a Wi-Fi network. Try moving or disabling these devices.
  • If possible, try to locate your Wi-Fi router in the same room as your Apple TV and iPhone/iPad.
  • If your wireless and wired networks are the same, try connecting your Apple TV to the router via Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.
  • If the Wi-Fi router has an external antenna, check to see that is it connected properly and in good condition.
  • Use the Wi-Fi network troubleshooting guide to resolve interference and other issues.

Hi Richard and the rest, I own the same amplifier recently purchased.

I too am having the airplay issue. I can see my Apple TV to airplay to but no longer the receiver.

I haven't updated my firmware but it is the latest version.

I can access the amplifier with my iPhone yamaha av app so it's not a wifi issue.

Unsure why it's stopped working bit is seems to me that it's not picking up the amplifier as an airplay capable product now.

I have completed the steps suggested to no avail also

Can anyone help

I had the same problem with my RX-V775.

I reset the rceiver to original factory settings, and the neverything worked ike a charm. The receiver doesn't even have to be in air play" mode for the icon to appear on my iPad or while using itunes on te computer. I can select he receiver, and once I activate "play" the receive automatically switches to play my content.

I have not yet updated my firmware on my reciver, so I'm not sure if its a Yamaha short coming.

I shall update you as soon as my procrastination allows.

On my new Yamaha rx-v675 I can't seem the get the airplay function to work properly.

The selected song is visible on the display of the receiver and on my tv screen.

I have ItunesMatch, so all my songs are synchronized with my iPad and iPhone, so the very same tracks are on both devices.

When i want to play a particular song from my phone, it is sent to my receiver, however: NO sound.

When I play the very same song from my iPad: sound!

I really dont get this. In both cases the receiver finds the imput as shown in the picture.

But why doesn't it play from my phone?

Of course i do not try to stream from ipad and phone at the same time.

Firmware is version 1.20 (latest)

(by the way, other songs work just fine from my phone.....)

I know it sounds odd but that's whats its doing. I am not streaming from my macbook as im not so sure its possible, regardless the song that I select from my iphone isnt the one that plays...

SOLVED!!

I have just bought a 675 myself and had the same problem.. AirPlay enabled on receiver but neither iPhone4s nor iPod Touch had the AirPlay icons available in music which is how I found this thread.

I checked the iPhone settings and under Music I found that sharing was OFF. Once I turned in ON and confirmed with my Apple ID etc then hey presto! SOLVED! I can now AirPlay without any problems. Hope this helps

Sorry for the length of this post, but I wanted to get everything down in one hit and I REALLY need some help as it's driving me nuts!

I have been happily connecting to my RX-V675amp from my Macbook Pro with no problems since I bought the amp a year or so ago - connected through iTunes > Airplay and it also appeared as a device in my System Preferences > Sound menu. I was using the Remote app on my iPhone and was always able to connect, but I think that still routes through iTunes/MB rather than the iPhone itself.

Connecting to the amp directly from my iPhone and iPad has always been flaky - sometimes I would see the amp as an Airplay device but many times I wouldn't. However, I noticed the other evening in iTunes on the MB that the Airplay menu had turned orange, but I wasn't using it so didn't think anything more of it. Since then I've tried to connect and the Airplay option no longer appears, nor does the amp appear as a device in the Sys Pref > Sound menu.

I also have a Synology Disc Station with the DS Audio app and if I use this I can connect to the amp via Airplay. Both the amp and MB are hard wired on my network, plus I have checked my router a number of times and the amp always shows up as connected (plus I can ping the amp and access its web console from a browser on my MB), so there is nothing wrong with the network connectivity of the the devices. I've tried renaming the network as suggested above just in case, but still cannot see the amp from iTunes or iPhone, but can still connect via DS Audio app. I've also updated both OS X and iTunes with the latest updates, but still no difference.

Even though I can connect via DS Audio, the app itself is a little clunky and I would really prefer to use Remote/iTunes as it is much slicker and previously worked a treat. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Any help would be very much appreciated as I losing a lot of hair over this!

Thanks,
Kevin

I have 2 Yamaha RX V675 receivers and they were both working great until recently. Now with iOS 8 the app doesn't recognize the receivers on the network. When I airplay music to the receiver it plays for about 1-2 minutes and then stops. This was working fine until recently. Also when I swipe up to access airplay from any iOS device, it is unpredictable whether the receiver will be available for airplay. I'm wondering if anyone else is having this issue?

Ok, so here is what I did after I had the same problems and helped for me!

I have an iPhone 4S with IOS 8.3 and a receiver (Yamaha rx v-775) to which i stream music with airplay. Since a few days the airplay icon does not pop up anymore at my iPhone.

I updated my receiver firmware but that still did not help. After searching forums I tried to disable WiFi MultiMedia (WMM) from my router (technicolor 7200). After this the airplay icon popped up suddenly!

Go to your router settings --> wireless --> advanced --> disable WMM

Good luck!

Could Spotify Connect be the problem?

I got the RX-V577 yesterday. It is not showing up on my airplay menu. (It has shown up for a few seconds and disappeared. But is generally not there.) The receiver is also not visible to the Yamaha app. I was able to add it to the app using the ip address, but there is definitely a connectivity issue.

Net radio does work.

So does Spotify connect. Spotify connect works from my MacBook pro, iPad and iPhone.

Airplay does not.

I think the Yamaha is somehow only able to process one of these at a time and is stuck on Spotify.

I tried the above suggestions and renamed the receiver - helped Airplay show up for a few seconds, then disappeared.

Turned of the WMM - no effect.

Help.
