I received an iTunes Gift card by email, but there is no code listed, only a button to redeem. Is there a way I can find out what the giftcard code is so I can pass it on to someone else? Or if I forward the email will they be able to successfully redeem it by pressing the "redeem now" button?
If you need the code from the email, you can just right-click the redeem button, copy the URL, paste it so you can see the whole thing, and the code is there. The code is in the URL.
For example:

I had to redeem mine from my email by using my iphone. Then it downloaded with no problems.
Hover your Mouse over the Redeem button... Your code will appear . Probably starts with an X

Sometimes your java may be out of date and buttons may not show up, make sure to update it or simply change browser 😉 this is common problem my customers experienced before ...
For my online gift card, there is no redeem now button. What do I do?

Thank you for this explanation Jakalope Joe. You are a genius! With your solution I was able to solve the problem. Note that I am writing this in 2016. Apple has still not solved the problem. Even if it is a problem only on Google Chrome, it is:
1) Ridiculous that Apple does not clarify this in the email or on the website instructions when providing information on how to download a song, and
2) Crazy that they have not solved whatever the problem is with Chrome.
Apple only wants you to have conveniences with their products and only their products. If I didn't run into so many exclusive playback or restricted apple extensions I would feel otherwise. Hence why they have lost quite a few loyal customers. It would of been nice if they had the code for pc users but its not going to happen. itunes will not open via chrome with the redeem button or explorer.

Had the same problem and couldn't solve it as instructed. Decided to print the e-mail and on the printed version there is a box with the code inside. Go to itunes and insert the code. Apparently this code is below the level of the e-mail. I can redeem it, which I did, but now itunes will not recognize my ipod so I'm still screwed.
At least you'll be able to redeem you gift.
