iTunes Gift Card code by email - where's the code?

I received an iTunes Gift card by email, but there is no code listed, only a button to redeem. Is there a way I can find out what the giftcard code is so I can pass it on to someone else? Or if I forward the email will they be able to successfully redeem it by pressing the "redeem now" button?

If you need the code from the email, you can just right-click the redeem button, copy the URL, paste it so you can see the whole thing, and the code is there. The code is in the URL.

For example:

https://buy.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/com.apple.jingle.app.fi nance.DirectAction/freeProductCodeWizard?code= ➡️12345678ABCDEFGH⬅️ &mt=1

This was such a headache for about 15 minutes until I found this response thread. To start downloading my email gift I had to right-click (Control + Click) on the 'Redeem Now' button in the email. I then copied the link and pasted it into a sticky on my desktop. At the end of the code was 'ProductCodeWizard?code='

and then a code. The end of the code had '&mt=1' which I had to delete to reveal my real gift download code which was 12 characters (both letter and number). That allowed my download to begin automatically in iTunes App.

I hope that helps and gets your gift download started with little fuss.

I just experienced this problem again tonight. In my daughter's case it was because she uses Chrome. I ultimately remembered the redeem code was buried in the URL, So we copied the code, brought up iTunes, went to the store and clicked REDEEM and then pasted the code into the redeem field. What a PITA.

It's nice to know we are not alone. You would think that if the idiots refuse to test the link with different browsers, that they would at least add verbiage, in small print at the bottom of the e-mail, like "In case of difficulty, your redeem code is XXXXXXXXXXXX".

Thankfully, I found this post after my husband couldn't successfully redeem the emailed iTunes $50 sent to him from the "Redeem Now" button in the email. The posted solution did work of looking for the product code beginning with an 'X' by copying the link to another tab, but what is ridiculous is that as of 10/05/15, THIS IS STILL A PROBLEM that Apple has not rectified. Wow!

Two options.

1) Temporarily change your default browser to IE and click the link in the e-mail again.

2) Alternately, right-click the REDEEM NOW button in the message and select COPY LINK ADDRESS. Run NOTEPAD and click PASTE. Then copy the numbers/letters between "code=" and the trailing "&". That is a code you can use with the REDEEM button at the iTunes store.

Thank you very much for this. Went back in to Outlook and hovered mouse over redeem code and the 16 digit code was there. Logged into iTunes and clicked redeem up at account icon and put in code on following page and it worked!

Had spent half the afternoon up to that clicking on the original email at redeem and being told to reinstall iTunes on my computer when it was already there!

Unbelievable messing around. Apple should really fix this considering we are a long way on from your original post but thanks for help.

Sorry guys only learning here and don't know where my original post went!

here is the solution that worked for me:

email of gift voucher arrives in outlook with a redeem button. You click on redeem now and you are told to download iTunes even though it is already on your computer - this gets you exactly nowhere!

Solution is you hover mouse over the redeem now button in the email and a window will show up which at the end of the link shows the 16 digit redeem code you need.

Write this down and then go and log into your iTunes Account through your iTunes program and when you click on your account icon up at the top to the left of search you will see button redeem - when you click on that you will see enter redeem code - enter the sixteen digits and that should update your account with the gift amount.

It worked for me!
