plug-in failure

I am also having the same problem on my 2012 iMac running Mountain Liion 10.8.4 running Safari Version 6.0.5. Flash works in Chrome, Opera , and iCab but fails in Safari, Firefox. Have no idea what is causing this issue... thanks for your help thus far.

Same problem here, it drives me mad, crazy & nuts 😠 !

This solved my problem.

I needed to check mark "Allow Java" and Allow all other plug-ins. I am running Flash Plug-in version 11.8.800.94 on a 2012 iMac running OS/X 10.8.4 with Safari version 6.0.5.

When I had exhausted all of the instructions such as the one above I found this:

Just scroll down to the list of archived versions and install the second from the top (11.7.700.232)

Thank you, I did uninstall 11.8 and reinstalled 11.7 and hooray, no more errors...🙂

11.8 probably has a conflict with one of my other applications...I remember there were also font conflicts with earlier versions of Flash. Adobe should test their plugins better, this is not the first time conflicts are there.

I'm having the same problem. When I try install the 11.7 version the installer only gets to 10% then stops and says it encountered a problem. I've tried other 11.7 version and have the same issue. I'm on 10.8.4 and Safari 6.05

Flash just gets weirder. I have latest versions of Mountain Lion, Safari, Firefox and Chrome.

Chrome jsut works, presumably because of the Flash bundling it does.

After most recent Flash update, the only way I can get youtube clips to play in Safari is to UNINSTALL FLASH. then a large proportion of them play. They come up with a missing plugin message, but play anyway. And then some dont, giving the "this video needs Flash to play."

Soundcloud doesnt work, and Firefox asks for the plugin.

If I install Flash again, they ALL fail.

** sigh **

I ended up downgrading to Flash 11.7.700.232 with Safari 6.05 because Flash 11.8.800.94 did not work.

Everything was fine until today. Now the older version of Flash is blocked because it is not up to date.

Has anyone solved this or is Adobe just being a bully AGAIN?

Same here. Getting the out of date flash message. Come on Adobe or Apple. Please fix this!

I fixed this by downgrading to the DEBUG version of Flash 11.7

The debug version does not get the out of date message or blocked plug-in icon.

I have been having problems for quite some time and finally fixed it with advice from this forum so THANK YOU! I simply went to the archived versions of the player and clicked on the one I had installed (11.8) and downloaded the DEBUG version which installs immediately. Afterwards, no more "plug-in failure" and flash works on all programs. Best of luck!

Give a try to the beta 11.9 flash version, it solves the problem

I un-installed using the Flash un-installer, but still had to manually un-install:

/Users/your name/Library/Preferences/Macromedia (the whole folder)

/Users/your name/Library/Caches/Adobe (the whole folder)

What a pain in the arse! This was OS10.7.5 with Safari 5.1.7, and only because this Mac won't run ML

I seriously un-installed and re-installed Flash 5 times before finding this post.
