1. From the menu bar select

 ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player Advanced

and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.

2. Triple-click the line below to select it:

/Library/Internet Plug-Ins

Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select

Services ▹ Open

from the contextual menu. A folder should open. Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:

Flash Player (failing).plugin

You may be prompted for your login password.

3. Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:

Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player

Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.

4. Select

Safari Preferences... Security

from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked Enable plug-ins.

5. Select

Safari Preferences... Extensions

from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.

Guys Im having the same issues as the OP... 10.8.4 with latest version of Flash player (11.8.800.94) installed.

Tried uninstalling, reinstalling to no avail. I also tried everything that was previously listed... no dice.

I have bene using Macs since OS9 and have never experienced anything like this. Chrome works, Safai and Firefox do not. No matter if it's a Youtube video or any video that uses flash (such as my local news site.)

Anything else? Thanks.

If there are any older versions of the flashplayer.plugin installed in your /Library/Internet Plug ins/ folder, Safari will automatically block flashplayer from working even if you have the updated version. Make sure you only have one version of Flash Player.plugin installed here. If there is an older version, delete it. Also make sure to check ~/Library/Internet Plug Ins.

I was just searching through /Library directory and found the following .txt file :

/Library/Application Support/Macromedia/fpconflicts

Opened this and the only thing listed was "Safari" - date created matches the date I updated Flash to newest version...

My flash DOES work in Safari btw. No real clue if this is relevant, quite coincidential.

Hi all,

Still no luck. I don't have the fpconflicts file either. I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my safari?.

I dont think its feasible to uninstall safari & re-install.

I dont want to restore my macbook either, Ive got a lot of stuff on it & its in constant use.

I do have a time machine though. If i do have to re-install from a back up, will the error come back?

Id much prefer to re-install safari if possible?
