iPhone 4 facetime not working

For some reason Facetime in my iPhone 4 is not working. This started last week only. Everything is working except for this. iPhone 5 and iPads are working though. Any idea how I can fix this? Are you also having the same problem?

If we are pointing out the FT error on here this would most likely be that there are hundreds of others, if not thousands, with an iPhone 4 who are having the same trouble but haven't reported it and are suffering silently.

One main reason I buy Apple products is because of the perceived quality and after sales support. The prices Apple charge reflect this. If Apple want to keep this perceived reputation it would be advisable of them to have a look at this FT issue, especially as it's on their community forum and find a fix for it.

I've tried the offered solutions mentioned earlier and they don't work unfortunately. I sincerely hope someone from Apple cares and sees these threads.

You are not addressing Apple here - we are just users like you. We don't have any inside track to Apple. We have Apple products like you do, we use them, we read manuals, we experiment with solutions, we try to help fellow users out on this support site.

This is not an Apple Community Forum - it is a user Community Forum. Apple does not see these threads in any formal capacity.

If you want to send feedback to Apple do so here:

Sorry you are having troubles. However, the problem seems to be, from these threads, rather random. If some iPhone 4's work and others do not, then there may be a common denominator between those that are not working that we have not uncovered yet.

Any non-App Store apps running? How about where you are located? Any other clues that you can see that might help to track this down? I, personally, am not having this problem with my iPhone 4, so can't help with the troubleshooting from the phone end. However, since this problem is random, the only way we are going to figure it out is to identify the common denominator....any only you can help us do that by providing any information that you think might help.

Cheers,

gail from maine, I never assumed I was directly addressing Apple, I'm quite aware what this forum is, it says it at the top, 'Apple Support Communities'. I'm not the only one expressing one's thoughts here:

Perhaps Apple should see these threads, any compnay worth their salt should have an interest in their customers' experience of their products.

I do agree that there must be a common denominator and have thought of that as well...

No, I don't have any non-App Store apps loaded and I have not done anything different from the day FT was working to the day FT stopped working. I wish I knew the solution to the problem then I would advise others who have the same issue.

I will send 'feedback' to Apple.

Honestly, I can't think of anything that might have caused this. I can't remember how far back the latest iOS system update goes. Surely longbefore this started to occur these past 3 weeks or so. So far over 590 people have viewed this thread. Can we all somehow download and transmit a list of all the app upgrades we've downloaded in the past month to look for patterns that might yield clues? Any way that iCloud or the phone can help us gather any useful data about our individual phones?

Hi Steve,

Yeah, not thinking that there is any way to gather the info from the posters. Occasionally, a common theme will crop up, and once it it posted, others will recognize that they have the same thing going on. A while back, posters were writing in that their iTunes libraries were disappearing out of the blue. Turned out that they were all using Avast Anti Virus software, and a bug that the app had was causing the problem. But, it wasn't an obvious connection - it just came out on a couple of posts, and once it was out there, people recognized that they also had the software and had also just updated it.

So, it's kind of catch as catch can. But any out of the ordinary thing or any updates that have gone on recently might be a place to start. Also location. Maybe everyone having the problem is located in the same area....

And the 590 views doesn't mean a shared problem. Just means that 590 people were curious about the thread and looked at it. Some may have also added to this thread, but since it is only 2 pages at this point, most did not.

We can keep our fingers crossed that someone will volunteer some tidbit that others will recognize. Again, it is hard for me to troubleshoot because I am not experiencing the problem.

But keep your eyes on the thread to see if anything reveals itself.

Cheers,

GB

So I updated my profile to show my location, Central Jersey. By any crazy coincidence are any of you also having this iPhone4 Facetime problem also living in Central Jersey?

Getting specific

When I initiate a Facetime call, the second party receives the invitation and responds affirmatively. I see "Connecting" for a few seconds and then I lose the conection and get the message: "Connection Lost".

Essentially the same thing happens when I receive an invitation to a Facetime call. I respond affirmatively, then after a few seconds I lose the connection with the message saying "Connection Lost".

Are you all experiencing these same symptoms?

Yes - that's exactly what's happening. I'm from Northwest Indiana.

No recent updates either. We (me & my husband) just noticed that our FTs are not working but other phones/ipads are working.

I read somewhere that back in April, Apple acknowledged that some phones' FT & iM were not working but they were able to fix it. I wonder if it's the same thing.
