"Unable to download applications"

Whenever I download a free app from the App Store, a box will pop-up mentioning "Unable to download applications" How do I fix it?

I tried all three suggestions, and unfortunately none worked.

It is even stranger than this: this started happening, after my iPad tried to update a large number of applications (31) - it worked for 17, but for the remaining 14 I get the 'Unable to download application' message. Now the strange thing: an application that requires a download now can be downloaded without any problem!

I have the sinking feeling that I may have to delete the applications and re-install them. That obviously is quite a bit of work, and would be quite annoying.

Any other suggestion?

I had 4 apps that wouldn't update from the update menu on the app store. It kept saying "Failed to update at this time" with the option of "done" or "retry". So I deleted the apps and tried to re-download them from the cloud. "Unable to download the app at this time." I tried everything listed here and more. None of these solutions worked.

I had ONAVO PROTECT (vpn) app on my ipad 2. I thought maybe it was interfering, although it did not give me any problems for 2 months. I deleted ONAVO PROTECT from my iPad2 and then went to the cloud and re-downloaded all the apps.

I used a different tactic. I deleted the app, then reloaded it form the app store. To do this hold the app down until it starts shaking with an "X" in the upper left and corner, then touch the "X" and delete the app. Then go to the app store and search for the app (you many need to switch to the "Purchased" or another tab at the bottom to enable search, then click "Update" or "Install" to reinstall the app.

If you have an older ip or a slow network connection you may have to wait for few seconds in the App Store once you find your app. It may still give a status of "installing". The status should change to "update" or "install". Select either then if you go to the your last app page you should see your new app appear and it should start to load...

Have fun!
