I can't update apps and can't install new apps either. But I can surf the internet, and do anything else without a problem. It happens since I have changed my DNS settings.

My special case is , I'm using a custom DNS of my own, but the DNS response is not authenticated, so I changed my wifi DNS field back to 8.8.8.8 temporally, the updating works again.

Hi Sahadebkundu. Please start by reading the thread you posted in.

If you cannot find an answer, please answer the following questions:

What model iPad do you have?

Which iOS version?

Are you on WiFi?

Do you have any Restrictions, Settings > General > Restrictions?

What are you trying to download (iOS update, new app, app update,...)?

What happens when you try to download?

Exact text of any message you see?

Here are a few things that you can try that sometimes can help get the connection to the App Store working again.

Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>Off. Set the date one year ahead. Try to download or update the apps again. If you get an error message, go back to the settings. Correct the date and time (set automatically) then go back and try to download or update the apps again.

Or .... Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Or .... Sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.

Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try again.

I tried all three suggestions, and unfortunately none worked.

It is even stranger than this: this started happening, after my iPad tried to update a large number of applications (31) - it worked for 17, but for the remaining 14 I get the 'Unable to download application' message. Now the strange thing: an application that requires a download now can be downloaded without any problem!

I have the sinking feeling that I may have to delete the applications and re-install them. That obviously is quite a bit of work, and would be quite annoying.

Any other suggestion?
