Hi Linc,

I have been using mac since few months.. And I am not much in to MAC. I have always worked on windows.

So I have few queries here....

1. There is already a Guest user created on my system. How do I determine if it is created by “Find My Mac.

2. How do I see if I have activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault

3. How do I Boot in Safe mode...

4. How Do I check these -

FileVault is enabled, or

if a firmware password is set, or

if the boot volume is a software RAID

Sorry for the trouble... I am not much used to Mac...

Boot into Recovery mode. From the OS X Utilities screen, select Get Help Online. A clean copy of Safari will launch. No plugins, such as Flash, will be available. While in Recovery, you'll have no access to your saved bookmarks or passwords, so make a note of those before you begin, if they're needed for the test.

Test. After testing, reboot as usual and post the results.

Sandy,

The domain 'Parking.ps' belongs to me, it is my domain name, and It is being heavily advertised online using lots of campaigns with many advertisement networks.

As a website owner making money from such domain, I hate knowing it is so annoying for users specially that it is popping up as you say everywhere. This was not the deal with the companies where I buy traffic, so I am interested to help.

I have read this complete thread, and I personally have no idea how it is popping up in facebook or youtube as I do not think such websites do popups at all.

Logically, there are two three ways you can reach the domain 'Parking.ps', and I have clearly displayed that in the header after reading this thread, those are:

1- You directly enter the domain name in your address bar.

2- You directly enter a domain name in your address bar which is parked using the service.

3- Your computer is infected with some malware or other crappy software that is causing the issue. Some advertisement networks will pop things up from toolbars, helper objects and so on.

What made me register and post here is to simply clarify that the website was not made to annoy people, neither It is supposed to act like this at all.

I am not a Mac specialist, so I doubt I can offer you any technical help on how to get rid of this. But I can see some PROs are following and I am sure they will offer you the desired attention and assistance.

Good luck

Hi Linc,

Tried in recovery mode. Your tube is not opening since flash is not available. But tried and other site called

www.Keralamatrimony.com

a new window was opend with Parking.ps.

Unable to understand, which application is causing the issue. I have not installed any new applications. Is there any way to find what all applications are installed recently with date.

Else I only update Flash and Java in my system.

Hi Ruslan,

Not sure what to say here... I understand your part...

I could not find this problem elsewhere... So I guess, I must have used some application which was infected....I somehow feel it should be the Flash which I had installed. Any sites which use flash directs me to your page.... And almost all sites use flash nowadays...

Let me see if I could find the source of the problem then solution will be easy.

Sandy

Hi mani,

You are right, the issue seems to be not in Mac or safari... Its looks like the websites which use flash are having problem..

In Yahoo also, I get to see the Mails, but the frames where Ads are shown, I see the parking page.. Looks like the Flash update had some malaware or something....

Anyways, lets keep trying to find the source.

Hi Sandy

Regardless of what you've done before, you should try different dns settings, as Carolyn Samit suggested in the third reply you received here... since on say youtube.com I can recreate the problem, simply by using the same DNS as you do.

Although the results of network utility showed dns working correctly for one site you mentioned a problem with, if there are any requests for content from ad.doubleclick.net, they are actually sent to the wrong place.

Your ISP may have recommended DNS servers noted on their website, or you could contact them & ask... meantime I'd test using google .

Open System Preferences - Network - Advanced - DNS then note the existing number(s) there & remove them.

Now add google's, on two lines - which are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

click OK, click Apply, and test.

Hello again,

This is starting to get interesting for me.

As I mentioned before, I own the Parking.ps domain.

In that domain's footer line, it says a service of menaDNS, which is another free DNs service being (in development) by our company, Splash Technologies as it appears on both domaion records.

Now, if you're lucky to get a view of the www.menadns.com domain which is still being developed and prepared to the public, you will notice that we state that particular IP --which I also noticed now in the previous message-- as a node of our DNS SaaS service.

Yes, our DNS blocks ads, that is one of many services we will try to offer in the MENA area.

We offer the DNS for free just as many other known names do in our area, and we grab the something called the NXDOMAIN hit which is an estimated 6.7% of all queries to a landing page where we monetize traffic.

Can that be any more clear? I mean, as a business concept?

I personally, and my company, are not here to cheat/scam/steal anything from anybody. And I have no idea how that DNS IP address got to that particular user's MAC machine, which makes it all over all, an interesting issue -- Unless of course, he did it himself, and for that he made me reveal a whole story about a business being built for a particular internet segment.

We never announced those IP's to anybody but to our close friends and some PR agencies, advertisement networks where we have ads ready to get served, and so on. It is all a BETA platform, and it is already being abused by someone.

I am not so sure all about it, just though to share a few words!

Best regards \ Ruslan
