Is there a way to receive texts when iphone 4S connected via bluetooth to Audi MMI?

I recently purchased a 2013 Audi S5 and connected my iphone 4S via bluetooth. It appears to work very well together except I no longer receive an audible notification of incoming texts. The phone will ring through the vehicle for calls but it remains silent for incoming texts. I know I shouldn't text and drive but I would like to know that I received a text so I can at least check when I exit the vehicle. The associates at the Apple store blame it on Audi and Audi blames it on Apple. Is this a common problem and does anyone have a solution?

iPhone, iOS 6.1.3

I have noticed this with my vehicle as well, a 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. It seems to me that the vehicle and phone go into sleep mode somewhat with the bluetooth until needed. It takes a few seconds for that connection to be re-established for the sound to go to through the vehicle. I miss a second or two of a ringtone when the phone rings. I will hear it vibrate in the console prior to hearing the ring. It is my belief that the text tone is just too short to be picked up and transmitted to the vehicle. I have wanted to test this and just haven't had the time. The same with the stock tone for email.

I do agree to not read texts, but if the vehicle supports MAP, then you could get the vehicle to read them to you.

I appreciate the constructive input. I usually have the phone in my pocket and may not remember to check and see if I received any messages everytime I exit the vehicle. I truly do just want to know if I received a message. I should also mention that all sounds except for the phone call ringtone appear to disappear. For instance, the keyboard clicks don't make a sound when the car accesories are on but without the car running. The phone simply goes silent except for the phone call ringtone.

The exact behavior that I find too. Again, for keyboard clicks, I think that is something that is not supported as part of the Bluetooth stack the vehicle uses, versus a stand alone telephone headset. My BlueAnt headset will play the keyboard clicks if I type in the vehicle, but it will not play a short text tone if the headset has not been used for a while and goes into sleep mode.

It appears that the Audi system takes a second to recognize the ringtone and respond. Therefore if the sound is a short burst like a ping (e.g. text message), then it isn't long enough to actually come through the cars audio system. If it is a longer ringtone or it repeats (e.g. phone call), then it works fine. Unfortunately there is not fix for this issue. Sorry.
