Would please be compassionate enough to walk me through the Step 1 of the process. I understand smcclay mentioned all the steps but i cannot get those stupid BASEBAND logs.

Trust me, i will really apprecaite if someone from here can help your NON tech Savvy Brother out with this. I have been waiting since last 6 months for a solution.

Please guys, help me out here.

After doing a sync with iTunes, hold down the option key and click the 'Go' Menu in the Finder and choose 'Library'. From there you should be able to find Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/YourDeviceNameHere. In this directory you should be able to find the correct log file. I used TextWranger (free from the App store) to search multiple files for the number '447786205094'. It is very important to find the newest one. You need the 'GSM SMS Point to Point PDU (as hex str):' just above the phone number in the log.

hey brother,

i was able to find those logs, FINALLY. Although, i could not find any app with that name. I am going to perform this thing again tomorrow and will go through the process step by step again. if you can please double check the required app for me, that will be great.

much thanks to all of you who are helping me out here.

If people don't mind, I would like to clarify please, because the thread is long and technical enough that it's easy to get lost.

I understand from the successful response that because of the ingenious persistence of one of the people here, (smclay?), we now know how to activate iMessage on wind, and that several people have done it. Excellent!

My confusion: I thought it involved both some text and config and log file acrobatics AND an older piece of hardware to send a specific command. I'm confused because much follow-up has been about the log file acrobatics, which I have just assumed any of us can do if we read carefully and put in the time.

But... Even if we do, aren't we still SOL without that specific piece of hardware? Are the people struggling with doing all this log file hexxing all in possession of an old gsm-modem type phone? (I'm assuming the iPhone doesn't have one.)

If not, is it because this is now possible to accomplish without a gsm modem?

Or if not, is somebody being a Good Samaritan for the moment?

Many thanks for the clarification.

So far, the volume of requests have not crushed the 'Good Samaritan'. It is best to time requests to the evening (Mountain time) as time, access to hardware, and access to a SIM card don't always line up. If you are going to use the services of this 'Good Samaritan' you can just provide the latest 'GSM SMS Point to Point PDU (as hex str):' from 447786205094. Keep in mind that you may be required to run the process again if the string provided is not the latest or iMessage shows an error instead of 'Waiting for activation'.

The 'Good Samaritan' also asks that in return you pay it forward by doing something nice for a fellow human.

Brother, I truly beleive in " whatever you sow, so shall you reap philosophy" and i appreciate your hard work and patience. Please send me your personal email to me at maheysubhash@hotmail.com, i am going to transfer you some money as a token of appreciation. As well, i havent got time to sit and properly do that thing yet, but if anything, i will ask you. Thanks once again. And everyone here who has been benefitted from this thread, i think we ought to appreciate SMCCLAY.

I suggest you open up the file in Microsoft Word. It is so much easier to find as it will format it in much easier to read format.

You will see something similar to these lines:

61.706 pdud: Decoding using Encoding 1

61.706 sms: MT SMS Message details:

61.706 sms: Message ID: 0

61.706 sms: Sender: +447786205094

Right above that what you are looking for starting with the string '06050415790000'.

Copy everything after that starting with the 'd2'.

Once you have this info, email the string to wind@theonlinemac.com.

After you completed that then you can follow the steps to disable logging.

I took alot of the info learned from this board and forwarded it to my contact at Wind's product team so hopefully they can resolve these issues as it doesn't make any sense for us to have to do this complicated work around. Thank god for smart people like smcclay. 🙂

As a reference, mine showed the following (minus the bolding):

06050415790000d2e2b1252d4ea13f7b6fb693f7c4b05a0d7633efdcbd558c16b3e570b8d86d86dbcd7b30594d6684 d98ac399d168341a8d46635026c3e586c1dc309813d670355b0c97a3c5663198b0661cce60b35a4d 3894c566b821

So I copied the following:

d2e2b1252d4ea13f7b6fb693f7c4b05a0d7633efdcbd558c16b3e570b8d86d86dbcd7b30594d6684 d98ac399d168341a8d46635026c3e586c1dc309813d670355b0c97a3c5663198b0661cce60b35a4d 3894c566b821

The email provided in the post belongs to smcclay and he is helping us so I wouldn't say your iMessage will work "right away". He was pretty quick to respond to my request for help though.

Thanks to everybody for all of your help.

However, I have still yet to crack the code. I had the

06050415790000 and the+447786205094 in a few of my logs, I must have made a mistake or turned it off.

I emailed it to our good friend smcclay, he was nice enough to send me a message and tried to decode the string and send a message to my phone. Like I said I must have done something wrong; now everytime I follow the instructions on the keypad *5005* etc... to the max, I can no longer find these numbers in my logs, even though I do see I am being charged $0.25 a pop when I try to re-engage iMessage.

I am not sure if this is plausible, but perhaps I should just tell WIND to turn off my international texts, this is very frustrating, nobody at either company has done anything to really help out.

I appreciate all the help and love in this forum, it is truly remarkable.

If anyone has any ideas, let me know, otherwise I'll just tell WInD to turn off my international texts or have to change phone companies.

Thanks again,
