Why is the Apple Mac Developer portal down, and for how long?

I cannot access the Mac Developer resources this morning.

With a company as advannced as Apple, I would expect them to be able to roll out web updates

seamlessly.

I don't like being out in the cold.

I want to download the Mavericks Beta.

You can get a look at release notes if you open the Mac App Store first before restarting.

But for example, if you are testing Mavericks Server you need a download of a matching Server App after your machine has updated its OS, so the lack of the Mac Developer Portal is still throwing a monkey wrench into things. If you are testing Server I'd recommend waiting for the website.

I assume they could push over the air updates for iOS as well. But if an iOS install fails, your fallback would be a device restore in iTunes. And I'm afraid without the downloaded iOS package you would be really stuck. So its probably for the best that nothing has yet been released.

Why don't you ask that Turkish guy, apparently he can close it for you.

There's an idea. We all start sending e-mails to that guy in Turkey asking him to fix all the various problems in our member center accounts that Apple Support doesn't acknowledge, can't or won't fix, or doesn't understand.

I'm sure he would be flattered initially, but after a few hundred thousand e-mails, word will get out and the Apple Developer site will be forever safe from hackers in the future.
