Why is the Apple Mac Developer portal down, and for how long?

I cannot access the Mac Developer resources this morning.

With a company as advannced as Apple, I would expect them to be able to roll out web updates

seamlessly.

I don't like being out in the cold.

I want to download the Mavericks Beta.

Have been emailing from day 1. I dont think they care, the best way to fight this is to take it up outside of Apple. Have you noticed neither CNN nor Fox nor MSN havent reported on this.

Actually, think about this for a bit. When Sony Playstation/Xbox 360 or whoever it was that got Hacked, it was ALL over the news and the top stations were reporting the **** out of it, even getting top GamerTag peeps to tell their story about it.

I have not once heard 1 iota of the TV News or those morning shows every country has. We have Sunrise in Aust and i have it on every day, working from home, and they have the ZDnet editor and the GagetGuy on every other day, and not one thing. . . . .

Is there a conspiracy going on with Apple and the Networks ??

Something to think about aye ?? 😉 😕

Michael,

You asked me to have patience. Frankly, I have been trying to decide if I am smart enough to learn objective-c and program in Apple's paradigm. Even in good times, I find the superstructure of Apple's walled garden difficult to handle. But in this time of extreme instability, I am unable to discerne the difference between my own shortcomings as an Apple application developer, and intermittent undocumented fluctuations in the developer portal.

We seem to be caught up in some kind of ****, where we are being punished, led around in circles, banging our heads into needless obstacles, with no real sign of a clear direction or timeline through which to proceed.

At this point I am sorry I signed up for this year's Mac Developer Program. Why I would subject myself to this kind of painful ordeal is unclear. Why I would pay for the same is even less understandable.

My decision at this point is to proceed developing platform neutral code using GNU tools, and hold off platform decisions until a clear marketing opportunity presents itself.

Developing with C/C++ and python in a platform neutral mode will leave me able to target whatever platform is the most worthy when the time comes. The Mac is my choice of Unix workstation for the time being.

As for patience, I usually reserve that for people with a plan, milestones, and clear progress. Is there light at the end of this tunnel?

Apple: How to lose your cool in 30 days or less.

Platform independent coding has its own virtues.

I am ever more leery of the next revision of mac os. When snow leopard came along they dicked up SSL, ruining one in house secure setup. With Lion they ditched the apache install and their separately sold server didn't support webdav. Every revision of their sw seems to involve several days of down time.

I'll wait a good long time before even caring about Mavericks. God knows what they dropped or broke.

It 'a week I try to access the Member Center, because to deploy a new version of our app Apple ask me to agree the new iOS Developer Program License.

Personally I think this kind of behavior is unacceptable, I can not deploy a new version of my app because Apple itself does not put me in a position to agree its new license.

I think I'll do a few posts on reddit, twitter and slashdot, maybe in the end Apple will move to break the deadlock.

You really think that posting rants on those other sites is going to make any difference? Yeah, that's the ticket to get them moving.

People seem to think that everyone at Apple is sitting around drinking coffee and talking about the upcoming football season.

Anyone who has worked for a large corporation in Corporate IT knows the kind of unexpected things that can happen, including possible human error that could make things worse before they get better. **** happens, always at the worst possible time, often thwarting the best laid plans of mice and men.

I agree with you, but at the same time, I would like to see Apple folks aknowledging that "Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles, software downloads, and other developer services are now available." isn't exactly correct.

That at least, they have realised some of us can't access those pages, which 1) put us in a difficult position 2) gives the impression that they don't know/don't care about it.

How about that ?

That's the issue....

if we are too few facing this problem - who cares about a 100 dev over 500K+ otherwise fine folks ? - we could simply never get our access back until the whole story is sorted out.

Are you ready for this ?

So, to whoever faces this problem, follow this thread

https://devforums.apple.com/message/860254#860254

and as suggested by DrErnie, fill a bug report (most certainly via email, since access to the bugreport page... doesn't work for us)

I can feel your frustration man. I am experiencing the same.

I have puked money and developed eye bags making my app. And just when I was about to submit it, apple took itself offline. That was day one.

Now, 3 weeks later, they are still offline... but worse now, coz they claim they are solved and back in business when we are still in the dark. I would have preferred EVERYONE have no access instead of some having and some not.

We should all seriously pitch in money and buy one of us frustrated devs a plane ticket to cupertino. This is unacceptable. They aren't even doing restoring work on weekends! Is this really happening? Do they even KNOW their site is still not fully functional?

I've emailed them many times already. Never getting a reply. I've had it. No more emails. We need to go there physically. We need to tell these apple guys that enough coffee is enough coffee. Go back to work. Use some of your cash to bring your site back up. We pay for those services. Why aren't we getting them???

i'll pitch in $100 to send someone there and shake things up.
