MBA (while unplugged) comes out of sleep mode only to go back to sleep

Hello esteemed gentlemen,

Have any of you come across your MBA 2013 coming out of sleep mode while unplugged, only to go back to sleep mode again?

I have not noticed this occurring while it's plugged in.

Steps:

1) Make sure its unplugged

2) Allow it to go to sleep mode without user input

3) Awaken it, e.g., button press

4) It turns back on, then all of the sudden it goes back to sleep

5) Awaken again and it appears to operate normally
