MAC SLOW WHEN PLAYING GAMES

Hi if anyone can help me with the problem I have I will jump for joy.

I have a Mac desk top 27 inch screen that is 4 months old. It has Mountain Lion installed. The problem I am having is when I first log into a particular game my mac is extremely low and won't load the graphics very well. When I first had the mac I had no problem at all with the game everything was super fast and the graphics were fantastic, but now sadly I wish I had never purchased the Mac, I was always a PC user. I have tried everything I can think of even lowering the graphics on the game but to no avail. Everything else works well on the Mac, just not the games. I am not a expert on Mac but have been told they lose memory very quick. Can anyone PLEASE help me, I am not computer savvy so if you can explain in simpleton terms that would be great.

Hi Joey please do not buy a MAC you will not be able to play SL. I have nVidia graphics in my mac but it still will not work properly on SL. I have now got another DELL which is more than capable of playing any game. Hope this helps you.

Strongly suggest that you either increase your RAM or max it out.

Maybe too much of your ram or CPU is used up by the game?

Why max it out? You said earlier Your RAM maxed out?, now your telling me to max it out. Playing games with adequate ram which I have, should be fine, wether it be a Mac or PC.

OK, how about...

Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.

If I max out my Ram Baby Boomber I will have no computer and considering the mac is only 4 months old I am not paying for anymore Ram.

How fast is your internet connection (2nd life transfers lots of graphics during play and needs a fast connection)

I researched tonight enough to see that the developers of 2nd Life say that dialup and satellite connections are not supported. Awaiting your answers about your connection type and internet speeds.

I have fibre Optic broadband which is the fastest in the UK.

Also when I first log into Second Life its super fast for the first minute or so and then slows right down. I know for a fact its not my broadband. I don't have Windows and the Mac either.

Launch Activity Monitor in your Home> Applications>Utilities folder and look at everything to see if there is a process or series of processes eating up RAM and/or CPU cycles.

Go to speedtest.net and actually check rather than believing the advertising.
