Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Breaking Bad Season 5/Final Season

When I bought the Season Pass for season 5 of Breaking Bad several months ago, I seem to recall that the episode list included the so-called "final season" episodes.

Now that those final season episodes are about to run, however, I notice that they are no longer included in my season 5 season pass. Instead, they're part of a new season pass that I would need to purchase.

First, am I just remembering wrong? Were the final episodes of Breaking Bad ever part of the season 5 season pass? If I'm wrong, then this is a non-issue, and I apologize for the inconvenience.

Second, if I am remembering right, shouldn't I get the final season episodes without having to pay for them (again)?

Season pass notification sent from apple once 508 was available for download. Note: it states latest not last. It also states you will receive new episodes if you purchased Season Pass.

"The latest episode of Breaking Bad, Season 5 is now available for you to download. Click here and it will begin downloading after you have signed in to iTunes. You can also go to the Store menu and select Check for Available Downloads (or select Check for Purchases in iTunes 7).

If you purchased your Season Pass on Apple TV you will automatically receive new episodes if your iTunes Store password has been saved. To manually check for new episodes, select Settings from the main menu, then select Downloads, and Check for Downloads.

Further inquiry and reply from apple below. I'll keep you posted on any results.

A.,

The Itunes Store is a store, and I purchase items from the store as advertised by the store (just like Home Depot, Best Buy, The Apple Store, or any other commercial platform/store). Itunes is the content provider to me, especially on a locked platform like Apple TV. If iTunes Store advertises retail content that I purchase for delivery from iTunes, and then iTunes Store has difficulty purchasing/acquiring the content I've purchased, it's iTunes Store's problem with the wholesale content provider. I purchased a retail product from iTunes Store, and I expect the retail product to be deliviered. I appreciate that you understand my point, but I would like action taken. Can you please pass our conversation up to a supervisor or management level associate for further review and corrective action?

I still expect that I will receive all remaing episodes of Breaking Bad Season 5 to complete the season as advertised at the time of purchase. The episode that I intially noted had not downloaded is titled "Blood Money" (epsiode 9 of 16 in Season 5), not "Dead Freight" (episode 5 of 16 in season 5). I think you may have confused the episode labeling and included numbering of the bonus material from the first half of season 5. Our conversation is starting to feel "shifty", and it's a little frustrating. I would appreciate a review and reply by a supervisor or management.

When can I expect the situation to be corrected?

Thanks,

-Andy C

Dear Andrew,

Thank you for contacting iTunes Store Customer Support. My name is A. I am glad to help you today.

Thank you for your reply. I understand your point, but I would like to highlight however that the iTunes Store is a commercial platform and the titles of the seasons and how these seasons are released are ultimately the responsibility of the content providers. I strongly encourage you to provide your comments regarding this issue using the link I sent you in my previous email. To make things easier I send it again:

Regarding the episode 9 that you have mentioned in your first email, I have reviewed your account and noticed that this episode (Dead Freight) has successfully been downloaded on your account. Please let me know if there are any issues with this download so that I can assist you further.

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

A.

When purchased, the price included all season 5 episodes per the product

placed on the shelf in your digital store. I did not buy the season from

the studio, I bought the season from ITunes. It is up to ITunes to provide

the product I bought. Please release the remaining episodes to my account

and to all others that bought the season from iTunes.

The creator of the TV show, AMC, and ITunes all identified the recently

released episode as episode 9 of a planned 16 episode season 5. I expect

all 16 episodes to be released to season 5 season pass holders.

Please correct this situation as soon as possible. If I had bought the

season from the studio, I would take up the issue with the studio. ITunes

is responsible for providing the season as advertised at the time of

purchase.

When can I expect the situation to be corrected?

Sincerely,

-Andy C.

It REALLY seems like what Larry Ellison said about Apple without Steve Jobs is true - http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=50152857n

Anyhow, this is what I got from Apple - they are determined to NOT take responsibility:

My name is Chris with the iTunes Store Customer Support team. I understand you're concerned about a recent season release split into two parts. I'm more than happy to provide some information regarding this matter as I know how this could be confusing.

If an item is re-released, or a show is split into two offers, this is the choice of the Content Providers themselves and not Apple or the iTunes Store. This occurrence is not exclusive to the iTunes Store as Breaking Bad is being offered in this manner across several different venues.

For a more in-depth explanation as to why Breaking Bad has been split into a "Breaking Bad Season 5" and "Breaking Bad the Final Season" option, both presented as separate purchases, you will want to contact the Network or Content Provider directly.

AMC can be contacted here: http://www.amctv.com/contact

AMC Email: amccustomerservice@amcnetworks.com

As well, you may wish to submit feedback directly to the iTunes Store regarding this matter:

http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

Again, although a products distribution is determined by the TV Show and Network, the more comments and reports we have on a particular topic, the more likely change is to come about.

Thank you for being an important part of the Apple family.

Sincerely,

Chris

I'll say this one last time to apple. It's simple, you advertised season 5 (all episodes) and we bought it. If the content provider changed their minds you tell them it is too late or you honor the agreement you made to us and pay for it yourselves. If you made the mistake in your advertising than you pay for the mistake. 100% it wasn't our fault so we should not pay for it.

Having said all that, I have no expectation of anything from Apple and I just won't buy through iTunes in the future.
