A lot of times when I try to bring in an audio file (Snare), it goes directly to the 1 but when I try to drag to the 3 or 2, itll bee just a smidge off and I have to zoom in a ton just to get it to line up. I have the grid on smart and Ive tried changing the grid to all the other options but they still snap to offbeat marks.
Same with the cycle function too..

An 8 bar audio file copied 20 times with the shortcut key "D" should end at position "161"...but look yourself where it goes 😉
I have the exact same effing problem and this adds hours of extra time to my work flow. This is cute for those of us who don't do this seriously or have deadlines. WHY HAS NO ONE FIXED THIS YET? great DAW but this is a massive fatal flaw honestly snapping to grid is DAW 101 this is completely inexcuseable. Why is this still an issue? Absolute shame.
The alignment guides do not solve the problem. Tried everything in the book and I've been on logic since 06. none of the other versions had ever had this problem. The alignment guides in fact, make it even MORE annoying.
Alignment Guides unchecked, worked a treat. Thanks a million. It was driving me demented. Screwed up a project at work by recording over an out of time section. Easily solvable but an un needed ball ache.
Really? I think the issue with the 8 bar loop is that it is not 8 bars long, the dot (8 0 0 0.) indicates that it is 8 0 0 0 bars and some samples (though less than 1 tick!) long. You must get rid of the dot by resizing the region at maximum horizontal zoom (= sample level).
In terms of snapping a region to a specific place, I've found a solution that works for me.

I’m still having this issue did you ever find a fix for it? I just switched from Pro Tools and it’s making me want to go right back.
I am not aware of any issues in 10.3.2 regarding absolute vs relative. Can you describe your exact problem ? or post a screen shot.

I've just moved from L9 to Logic 10.3.2, having the same problem. Did you manage to solve it? Clicking on 'Alignment Guide' doesn't make any difference.
Is anyone else finding the Grid snapping very annoying?
