I'm aware of what sandboxing is. But I do appreciate your input. However, sandboxing is not a guarantee. It's simply extremely reliable, and an additional layer of security.

And I believe I already addressed the fact that Apple has control over which apps are available via authorized download. But that system is not 100% guaranteed. However, I do trust it to do it's job properly.

Sandboxing is not a guarantee. Feel free to Google cases in which sandboxing did not prevent malware.

I'm not trying to start an argument; just trying to clarify that the system, while exceptional, is not a 100% guarantee.

Google sandboxing and file management within the iOS system and I will find out it has issues and malware? Because it is the entire system, not just one part, that provides the security. So I still don't see your .01% or should it be 95% safe? 97% or is 99.99% just something you made up?

The '99.99%' was an estimate, meant to illustrate that the occurance/possibility is extremely low.

I don't expect that I will ever see malware on an un-jailbroken iOS device, at least not in any notable quantity. That is a separate statement from saying it cannot happen.

Can it happen? Yes.

Will it ever happen? I highly doubt it.

Does that clarify, for you, my position & opinion on the matter?

Not completely correct. There was an app that stole user contacts released in the app store a couple of years ago. It got past Apple's review. However, it was caught within a week and deleted.

And I don't like inaccurate blanket statements, such as 'Malware/viruses do not run on an iPhone.'

Was just making the statement that this happened to me in the past and i thought the information might help this guy out!!

And if he has jailbroken his iPhone (there is nothing from his to indicate this) then it might be helpful if he puts it into DFU mode first then restores it as a new iPhone.
